Odd fact, it's never hit 100 in Tampa either.

Despite how it may seem I'd love to live somewhere one day where the weather is basically the same every day. I seem to have this masochist streak of either living somewhere where it's below freezing for two straight months or hotter than the blazes of hell for two straight months.

ETA: That said, I still and will likely always prefer the heat to the cold.

Heavy Flooding In Toronto

Most of subway is closed as tracks at downtown stations are under water.

Had a friend in Boston that had lived in the South Pacific for a few years. SHe said it was like 85 every day. She loved it for a couple years then got bored with the lake of variety.

Really don't mind the summers here so much, but the little things bother me. For starters, my office window has some western exposure so I have to leave the blinds shut from basically June through the middle of September so it's like working in a cave. (Even with artificial light, which I shut off in the afternoons since it adds to the heat in the room.)

I mean, #FirstWorldProblems and all but I'm looking forward to being able to have the window again.

Seasons would be cooler if they rotated every month versus every three.

Is that the opposite of the specific ocean?

If I were single and had about another $100K socked away for retirement I’d move to Cuenca, Ecuador where it’s 72 and sunny everyday. I could live with that.

Man the smoke is off the charts here today. I looks like Beijing out there.

It must be worse in Seattle?

How about San Jose?

The afternoon clouds are circling today, belying what I'm about to say. That hour a day rain that cools, but then also makes things super steamy after, that you used to be able to set your watch to in the summer, is gone. That weather pattern really doesn't happen anymore. We certainly get storms, but not every day.

We drove to Lake Tahoe today, and the sky was hazy until we got into the central valley.

Because of flash flood warnings and the inability to deliver clean water to Watkins Glen, Phish just canceled a three day festival in NY that was set to begin tomorrow night.

I have one friend with his 4 kids and wife who rented a house for the weekend and just got to NY from MA today and another from CA who just landed in Rochester. Brutal.

But better than some kind of brutal new Woodstock level disaster right?

I'll trade the muggy for the post-apocolyptic hellscape we are having here...a 'SmokeStorm'...

Here's what the M's game looked like last night:

It's a beautiful area, but very little to do there. Throw in 45,000 bored Phish fans with nowhere to stay during the height of the tourist season... Not a pretty picture. As a guy who has been to several Phish festivals, 45,000 Phish fans in the best of circumstances is not a pretty sight.

So I'm looking a probable cat 4 hurricane hitting the NC coast at the end of the week. It could break the record for the farthest north a cat 4/5 has ever hit the Atlantic coast (current record is Hazel, right at the NC/SC border). Oh, and then it's supposed to stall and just sit there for a few days, dropping over a foot of rain in parts of NC.

Not same storm but schools are closing in Ky from massive rain and flooding. Not in Lexington but in a lot of nearby counties.
