Hey Rass, your facebook post reads like a suicide note to anyone who knows those lyrics.

Great. And now I’ve had to deal with the whole “why didn’t you say hi to that guy in Tiff’s” thing again after this made me laugh.

Met my wife for lunch here today. It used to be a standard sub shop with a pretty good name (Fatboys) that I don't remember ever going to, and I think the old owner of the closed shop is now one of the owners at the afore- and oft-mentioned Tiff's.

Anyway, she got the meatball parm special and got the Korean inspired sandwich that I won't name for fear of a ... . It was pretty great.

Be forewarned it's tiny. If you look at it on Google maps, it's in a old trailer-style luncheonette building. So seating for maybe 15-20 people?

Thanks for the reminder, I've been wanting to go there. They were the guest chef in the Jets Green Room for one of the games I went to this year. Can't remember exactly what they were making, but it isn't on the menu currently on the website. I'm thinking it was a mini braised pork shoulder sandwich with fig chutney and arugula. It was fantastic.

The district where he works is a town that borders mine, and it's a pretty well regarded school system, but I don't know anything about him.

I did read some of the comments on the initial article I saw this morning, before the serial nature of his crime was revealed, and I was a little concerned at how many people defended heeding the call of nature while running and just dropping a deuce wherever necessary.

Yeah, there's a huge difference between taking a leak and deucing out in public.

I mean, for one thing... What are you wiping with?

I had the same thought. All these runners chiming in that sometimes you have to shit and continue running. I know this is somewhat common in high level marathons, but there is no reason you "have to" take a shit on a high school track 8 different times on your morning jog.

The first field trip my son has taken in middle school is today. My wife is the Chief Marketing Officer at a major healthcare system, so she received a notice that they are bringing the injured students to two of her system's hospitals. They didn't know which school the kids were from, so she was freaking out. She went to one of the hospitals, and sent a text that the TV crews were already there. The top of the bus came off the chassis, never seen that before.

This ended up being horrendous. At least some of the kids were special needs, and not able to communicate with police or medical staff. The teacher wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and was thrown out of the bus and died at the scene. They found a list of students, but couldn't identify a lot of them for hours. In addition to special needs kids, a number of them were unconscious, or had head injuries, and weren't able to communicate. They were panicking, because they couldn't find one kid for over 5 hours. They had police dogs searching the area, but eventually the school realized he didn't go to school, but his name was on the class list.

I never gave any thought to this when my kids go on field trips, but they obviously don't have ID, and if they were hurt and their teacher died, how would they ID the kids? And you can't have a kid identify the dead students. There was a State Trooper who had a kid in that school who went around identifying kids he knew. My wife spent the entire day at one of the hospitals, and I've never seen her that devastated.

Do your school buses have seatbelts? I’ve never seen one that does.

Yes. Most of the kids were wearing them. The teacher who was launched from the bus was not.

Saw an interview with a father who couldn't find his daughter. She had the same name as a girl in a coma, so they initially thought it was his daughter. When he finally found his daughter, she had a concussion, and was giving the wrong name. The father said she stared at him for a bit, then suddenly recognized him and remembered what happened. Brain trauma is so weird and scary.

Lap belts on every one I’ve been on for my kids’ trips.

The driver was reportedly making an illegal u-turn on an interstate highway.

Finally made it to the mead bar today.

Got a couple beer style and a couple fruity ones. The Focal Banger-style tasted like a hoppy beer, wouldn’t have known it was mead (was even a little cloudy). The Jagged Little Pils tasted like a beer with a mead aftertaste, good. The raspberry wasn’t my jam but the cherry was really good. My wife got the boriqua slushie. Nice little space to drink. Brought the kids with 7-11 slurpees.

Been on vacation this week, in and around Jim Thorpe, PA. Lots of history around here and it’s a pretty place. We flew into Newark last weekend and joined up with our Maplewood friend to drive to PA. Going back to Maplewood Friday. If I can make my way to A pub in Maplewood for a pint Friday night, might any of you locals be available and up to join me?

Not as much as you do if you were there Friday and didn’t get a beer with SC.

And Motown is fine. Some good restaurants. Some expensive bars. Parking is usually pretty easy.
