Welp, my comfort bar, the place we’ve been going with the kids with some regularity for almost 10 years, where I know almost everyone, where both girls now work, is finally conceding to the post-COVID swoon and closing at the end of next month.

A chunk of the staff knows, the owner is coming in to tell the rest tonight. Might take the kids to dinner around that time so they can get the news officially. Figure they should hear from their employer and not their parent even if it’s doing to hit them personally. Definitely their first (and current?) favorite restaurant.

The new owners will be turning it into a Mexican joint.

I’m sad.

Judging from your and your wife’s FB posts, I thought you were singlehandedly keeping them in business. That’s a shame, great place. Is the other location closing too?

Aw fuck, man. I’m sorry. Whenever we went, or I went, I always felt like I was going to your house, but with better wings, beer, and burgers. Hopefully the new owners keep on whoever wants to stay on.

That sucks, rass. We had a similar experience last year with a place here where we had celebrated so many birthdays, etc. To have that sort of connection be broken is hard.

Any of you NNJ motherfuckers try Christo’s cheesesteaks in Bloomfield? Pics look really good which is more than I can say for every single cheesesteak place I’ve had anywhere around here (and half the ones there).

Dear Rass:

1. Happy birthday
2. Your family Facebook posts make me really excited for when both kids are taller than my wife.

Yours,

My daughter keeps trying to claim that day. She’s a fraction of an inch shorter, and I don’t think it’s going to happen until my wife starts shrinking.

Last trivia night and I blew it. Could have been in first place heading into the final question. I thought I had a decent answer (which was wrong) so the question is in an alternative universe where I am in first what’s my wager? Could have finished in at least third I think with a cowardly wager.

Can’t believe how busy they’ve been since they announced the closing. Feel bad for the manager having to field all of the “we love this place we wish we’d gone more often” conversations the last 3 weeks.

If any of you local boys want to laugh at a cyber truck in person, there’s on right along the street at the dealership on 22 in union. Even the kids, unprompted, knew it was funny so I feel like I’ve done something right.

In 2022- 23, she managed the Cinco Ranch High School Ice Hockey Team in Katy, TX, which she enjoyed with her son Brendan.

Someone got hit by a train here this AM but no information yet. Worst case is a kid crossing tracks for school, "best case" is suicide. Hate this.

Our commuter train line here hits people occasionally. My understanding is that it is almost always a suicide.

Same here and given that (1) they've now said its an adult and (2) trains were running again within 90 minutes so seemingly no real investigation, I'm guessing that's the case again.

Just saw the "mayor" of our town posted about it and said there's counseling for witnesses so it must have been right at the station. Really hoping its not someone with headphones checking down the middle track the wrong way.
