we didn't go to HS together (although our schools were rivals) didnt' go to college together (although he was roomies with my friends) knew him for 30yrs. really got to know him by going on the annual ski/snowboard trip out west. great guy. nice guy. one of the smartest people i've ever met, academic. could talk any subject.
gone. shot. dead. made the national news. guy who did it got caught.

i've gone the day on and off. i mean we weren't close except that one week a year. no matter. he was a friend. boss told me to take the day. i've just tuned half my meetings off.
