I know he's no longer a MAC guy, but this turned up on my favorite MI football blog.

WTF does any of that even mean? Fleck is a weird dude, man.

I think the funny thing with Fleck is that some people -- too many people -- think he's some kind of genius or savant, but he's really an unbelievable idiot. I suspect that will be borne out when outrecruiting schools at your level is no longer an option.

Yeah, I've taken your posts to heart, so he gets zero slack... That posted quote is just a disaster on at least three distinct levels. First off, neither sentence actually makes sense. Maybe it's a contextual issue, but why is he highlighting the fact that he has a daily dose of "tough conversations?" Like... with his kids? The AD? The barista at Starbucks? The second is such a botch of that saying, it's borderline ridiculous.

For one thing, having a chip on your shoulder isn't a good thing. It means you're carrying around a issues or a grudge, which often sends you into a rage with very little provocation. I mean... Is that a good thing for a head coach? Maybe for a Mike LB or a something?

Secondly, if you want to up the ante on that saying, you say boulder. Or, you know, another large object, preferably an actually substantive thing. A crack is... not a tangible thing. So, what is he saying? He swallows his anger in a pit of despair? It's like... Is he saying the chip has a crack, that makes it worse than a full intact chip?

What a dumb dumb.

You're also forgetting that U. of Minnesota paid Western Michigan something like $60k just so Fleck could bring his asinine "Row the Boat" slogan to his new job. So there's all sorts of stupidity going on around Fleck.

Kent State had 550 yards of total offense and then ended the game with 4th and 17 or worse on four straight possessions (including a 4th and 27 and 4th and 35). No way that’s ever happened before.

This was a pretty sweet trick play though.

(And honestly looks like Akron's QB might have gotten injured at the end of the game last night? Kent State is better than their record and it's a rivalry game -- they might give Akron quite a battle next week.)

Frank Solich is creeping closer to what I thought was probably the most unassailable record in the MAC -- all-time conference wins. Solich now has 65 wins at Ohio and trails Herb Deromedi's 90 wins and and is second all-time. (Ohio has the coaches with the second and third-most conference wins all-time, curiously enough.)

Solich probably needs at least four years at best to break the record though and at age 73...

CMU announced today a $15-$20M addition to Kelly/Shorts Stadium to the north end zone for new locker rooms, meeting space and training rooms. There's also a strong likelihood of additional luxury boxes/suite seating and possibility additional standard seating as well, which would make the largest stadium in the MAC even larger.

Is that conference wins or wins as a coach while in the conference? Because it seems like 25 more conference wins would be a pretty tall order for a 73 year old.

Conference wins only. So yeah, he'd likely have to stick around until age 78 (and that still assumes an average of 5 MAC wins a year).

Well that certainly follows suit with the rest of the conference...Miami just opened up theirs earlier this year. BG, Toledo and OU have all completed similar facilities over the past decade.

I thin there is a good chance. He seems very content and his staff has never showed signs of leaving him. Small Town, very respected and come and go without much drams so why not go as long as you can.

Go Bobcats today but most importantly make sure to run plenty of clock in the second half so the Potato Bowl broadcast starts on time for my DVR

The two Boiseans sitting next to me asking what CMU and Wyoming are ranked might be worse.

And that throw right there is why pro teams are interested in Allen. He has one of the biggest arms I've ever seen.

Could be two first-round picks on the field. Depending on how he tests in the combine CMU’s Tyler Conklin could be in that late first round/early second. He has prototypical NFL size for a TE.

Allen is something else though. I’m in almost identical seats as when I saw Matt Ryan play CMU in 2006 and they have a lot of similarities.

CMU absolutely clowned WMU and NIU — two teams as good or better than Wyoming — in the second half already this season so not so sure this one is over.

+8 in the TO battle should have led to an even bigger MoV. Really glad Allen came back and played well. If the Pokes can get an offense to match their D they will be tough. Happy with where Bohl is taking them.

Looks like Eastern Michigan gets to fly the jolly roger this week. That was a nice win for them.

Unfortunately brian Central does not. That has to be a disappointing loss for the Chip faithful.

Don't get me started on Miami. The team has regressed (especially the QB play) the past two years and it's painful. The coaching staff is getting exposed as inept. It started with a horribly final drive and missed FG against Miss State in their last bowl game in 2016 and it's been downhill ever since. I know it they played UC in a rainstorm but 139 passing yards on 41 attempts is pathetic.

Too quiet in here!

https://www.toledoblade.com/sports/coll ... sion=evoke

That's a fucking doozy of a story.

Found at Mgoblog, who's chief proprietor has a saying that "people are in charge of things because they are in charge" (not because they know what the fuck they are doing.

Hoo boy, Bowling Green.
With Bowling Green fresh off a Mid-American Conference title powered by one of the country’s highest-flying offenses, then-AD Chris Kingston wanted to keep a good thing going. So he Googled which team had the best offense that year, noted it was Texas Tech, and essentially targeted the top Red Raiders assistant he could afford.

Conservatively speaking, it was the dumbest coaching search in college football history.

I'm just hoping CMU can salvage something out this season by upsetting Western, otherwise this year was just a total loss.
