Interesting that Paul Carrack sang on Mike & the Mechanic's biggest hit, "Silent Running," and really, Paul's big solo hit, "Don't Shed a Tear" may as well be the B side to that single.

Check out Nick Lowe rocking the bass in Carrack's backing band.

Heard Downtown Julie Brown doing a countdown of the top songs from this week in 1991 and as usual my first thought was “1991 wasn’t that long ago” then my second, still just a couple of miles away from where I had just dropped off my oldest for a college visit, was that in 1991 I was younger than she is now.

Well, I know I’ve belabored the site with multiple posts about my ongoing eye surgery saga. So, be forewarned, I’m not done yet.

Yesterday was not good here. Went for my three week post-op appointment for what was supposed to be my last visit with the retina specialist. But, he said my retina has detached again. He was clearly frustrated. Bonnie and I had a long talk with him. He encouraged us to get a second opinion if we want to. But he also said that we should get the next surgery done pretty quick. I just said fuck it. In for a penny, in for a pound. So, I have eye surgery again (sixth time this year) on Thursday. They are taking the lens out this time because it is so buggered up, in addition to laser surgery to remove the scar tissue that's been building up and causing the problem. And, injecting oil into the eye to hold the retina in place. They've previously made incisions into the retina with the lasers to make it lay down flat on the wall of the eye. The problem seems to be that new scar tissue keeps arising and pulling it away from the eye.

I feel like I've gone through all the stages of grief and now I'm just bummed out and resigned to it. Sorry to keep playing this violin for you.

Fuck man, good luck! I would see another doctor to determine if there is something that should be done differently. Maybe he is doing a good job and it just won't take, but I'd see someone else. I do get the urgency to get this done now, but man...

In the same vein, I know that the thread title for that particular thread is "Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random," but you cannot search "random" in the board because the word is too common.

So unless you know a unique enough word in that thread, you'll never really be able to search it. (Ex: when I want to find the board game thread, I search the word 'Scythe' because I talked about that game in that thread.)

(Unless I'm searching completely wrong. And yes, now this thread will come up when I search that word.)
