Tomorrow is my daughter's (the younger of my two kids) last exam in high school.
I have vivid memories of her emerging from my wife. How does 18 years go by like this?

I remember having an NHL record book that had Howe, Hull, Bucyk, Mahovolich and Makita on the cover. They were the only members of the 500 goal club.

Clicking on Baloney's Kate Beckinsale link, I saw she has an 18 yo daughter. 44 yo mother is my choice of sexiest woman alive, 18 yo looks like a child.
Then i saw Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe's daughter is 17yo. She is like a stick figure of Reese.

Along similar lines, when I first really started following baseball, Al Kaline and his 399 career home runs sat 20th. He sits 56th now.

So many threads this could join. feeling old thread is at the top of the page, so here it goes. shame on sabo, who follows this account if he didn't already post, shame on me if mine is a dupe. (it's actually from spring practice I think, I just stumbled on it today.). I know I met this dude back in the day, Alonzo Carter, can't remember even the context (football, music biz, Upward Bound event, socially, random raider game? can't remember, old.)
He is a well established good guy, longtime high school coach in Oaktown/Berkeley. A short and a long article about him.

My older brother had his annual end of summer bash yesterday, and he's got a lot of buddies - male and female - from high school. One of his guests was a woman who was one of my first heavy crushes. Nothing came of it - after all, she was 17 and I was 14 - but always great to see her again. Haven't seen her in 5 years or so. She still looks great and two years ago became a grandmother.
A strange threshold in my life has been crossed.

I woke up at 4AM with the worst crick in my neck/shoulder I've had in a long time. No idea what I did to it. Can't look up or to my right. Need to play hockey tonight. Any other tips other than IcyHot, Ibuprofen, and rolling around on a lacrosse ball? I'm dying over here.

Made it about 15 seconds into a pickup soccer game at a kids' birthday party, did a hop/skip around someone in the box, thought I got kicked in the back of the leg, took another step and realized I pulled something somewhere in my calf. Awesome.

A college friend posted on Facebook that he had a heart attack while shooting hoops. 41 years old. He needed a stent and posted that he will be ok, but fuck.
