Maybe? Except that the one saying that does 80 threaded tweet storms on the regular and seems kinda “out there” generally. So, source...

Also, did you all see that Glenn Greenwald did Hannity’s show? Fuck Greenwald.

Flynn offered to flip very early on and most perceived it to be a ploy (PR move that had strings attached that made it unacceptable to the investigators.)

So, yeah... no.

Yeah, Seth Abramson is only slightly more credible than Louise Mensch. I put him in the same category as Scott Dworkin. It's often satisfying to read what they post, but can't put much stock in it.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I'm legit curious: how do I not do this?

You would have to be a better man than me to not do that.

When it comes to insults and angry outbursts, I think "Trump Voter" should replace "Motherfucker."

I'm having a hard time with this, too. Until now, I never fully judged anyone based on who they voted for, but if I se a Trump sticker on someone's car, I assume a hell of a lot about them.

There's nothing wrong with this.

A couple months ago, I took the the kids to visit grandparents back to Ohio for a weeklong trip. Before the trip, I knew it was very likely I would see the two cousins with whom I am closest and was leery about having discussions with them that could veer from sports/family/work to the political realm. The feared discussion never came, which was a relief, but getting a random tweet in my timeline last week which they had both liked bothered me and brought the leery feelings back again. The tweet was one of their friends who was proud of buying a MAGA hat. I muted the guy just so it was gone from my timeline.

Of course, I remember that every time I retweet something about Kaepernick or how awful Trump/Republican-led Congress is. And, sometimes I feel like I want to apologize to these two for cluttering their timelines with these retweets.

Then, I realize that they can eat every re-tweet I send out because, if you are a person of faith and want to have abortion be illegal (other people in their small town have lawn signs up year-round), then you have to own all the other shitty stuff that goes with it, be it racist, sexist, homophobic, or whatever. If you want to back the faux patriotism of standing for the flag and anthem, you have to suck down the Trump shitting on dead soldiers.

Chatter on twitter, probably a joke, but (maybe not) that the person standing next to Trump today as Melania is in fact, "Melania", a body double of some sort. I am bemused. But, also, like, MAYBE?

What tips me towards believing it's an imposter is Trump's lie tell. "My wife, Melania, who is with me right now..." If she was really with him, why would he need to reassure us that she is with him? Fucking bizarre.

Yeah, no. Remember when Twitter proved that the person who supposedly wrote Melania's convention speech didn't exist?

These guys are such stupid motherfuckers. No way they could pull off something like a fake Melania.

Kelly Speaks About Son’s Death and Criticizes Congresswoman Wilson

Well, he'll defend Trump to the end. And then this phrase basically means that you can embolden heartless gestures:

“He was doing exactly what he wanted to do when he was killed,” Mr. Kelly recalled. “He knew what he was getting into by joining that one percent. He knew what the possibilities were, because we were at war.”

There's certainly an edge that the liberal parts of the media are trying to exploit, and rightly so, but if John Kelly goes to this length, either he's digging deeper and deeper into this administration because that's the professional thing to do or there shouldn't be an apoplectic response to Trump for everything. Maybe it's neither or both.

At the risk of being dubbed a heretic.

Isn't it kind of bullshit for that call to be on speaker? Maybe, I don't know. But I sure think it's bullshit that an MoC was there listening, and that she decided to use the clumsy call to shame the President. When I first heard what he said, I"m like... "Well, I know what he was trying to say, but he's such a fucking moron he beefed it royally." I honestly didn't immediately go into this rage about disrespect.

I hate the man and everything we've endured the last year or more. But I think Kelly has a point on that front.

That is likely the first and last time I'll even indirectly defend Trump. But at some point, everyone needs to make sure we're not just in a constant state of hysterics over everything. I don't give a shit how it looks to Trump supporters or who it gives ammunition to... Fuck all those people sideways with a rusty awl.

But, I mean on this one? Just think it's being a little hysterical, like that's just our state of being... It's not healthy.

No, it's not bullshit. The congresswoman was the deceased soldier's mentor, she had been invited to be in the car, and given that it is Trump, if it were me taking a call from him, I would want witnesses too. Fuck Trump. Also, "what did you expect, he was a solider" (paraphrased) is a pretty fuckawful sentiment. Stop defending him.

It's long been apparent that Trump lacks the tact or empathy necessary to have even basic presidential conversations, let alone the more difficult ones. But putting aside this specific call, the issue I have is why the entire media just yawned at the fact that we're apparently fighting combat operations in Niger. Had that ever been publicly disclosed?

I mean...that was probably one of Trump's first written declarations...it just ended up having a typo so here we are.

Saying, soldiers, ESPECIALLY the ones that sign up specifically to go into combat, are aware of the danger they are signing up for is, pretty much, why we call them heroes.

Given all that he was trying to prove with the call, I just don't buy into the notion that he would get on a call with the widow of a fallen soldier and glibly give a vocal shrug of his shoulders and say the rough equivalent of "tough break, but shit happens."

He is utterly lacking in compassion and empathy. He is an insane person. I firmly believe that. So, really, my point is fairly narrowly cast here.

We can agree to disagree, because this is never going to be something either of us can prove (in terms of what he said, exactly, and what the tone of the call was.)

This is what McCain is getting fired up about and is now being more specifically covered by CNN today. So, I don't think it's a yawn, more that we're no so deeply in this rut of covering everything Trump says and does so breathlessly, we aren't able to pull the lens back.

I'm the one always saying the the media should be less hysterical.

But in this case I think it's all true. Wilson was in the car with the widow. She heard the call and I'm certain Trump said all that because he's an asshole. How does it benefit Wilson to make this up? Kelly is just defending Trump now because he has to. I'm sure Kelly briefed Trump on what exactly to say beforehand and some of it was, "he loved what he was doing, he knew he could be in the 1% etc..." But it's like a game of telephone. Trump probably said it wrong because he didn't take notes and he's an asshole.

I'm with nonlinear on this one. Tempest in a teapot. You don't take a call with the president on a speakerphone so other folks can listen in. At least not a call like that, when he's calling about your dead son. And if you listened in, you shouldn't try to use it to score political points. There are so many better ways to complain about Trump.

"Women were sacred", yet he trashes two women (the mother of the deceased and the woman she invited to be with her during the call) by defending Trump.

"Gold Star families, I think that (their being sacred) left in the convention over the summer" is a line he used in defense of the man who stripped that status from Gold Star families.

Fuck him.

Considering she was both a minority and a woman, it's far from an unthinkable thing to do when you know who you're dealing with.

Trump did start it. But it had nothing to do with that Congresswoman.

Again, I think this is wolf-crying. There are so many legit reasons to go after Trump. If we're going to make a big deal out of the way he handled a very delicate call to the family of a slain soldier, I think we're just helping his cause.

I think they can get away with literally anything by spinning the negative situation to a sympathetic/victimized one. I have no idea how you break the stranglehold of negative influence the Republicans have currently.

Until Donald Trump is caught fucking a toddler or Mueller has definitive proof Donald was pissed on by Russian prostitutes, nothing is sacred from the GOP side and there's a clear double standard.

I even rationalized that the Khan family going after him during the process was too far because I'd never want my mother and father to engage with any politicians after I'm dead. Least of which Hillary Clinton.

I know what I signed up for extends, for me, to my military service, operations therein, and being a prop while I'm in. If I die, my service is over. At least spare me the indecency after death of being a political talking point. In fact, I'm probably going to put something in my will alluding to it.

It's not the Republicans, it's the republicans that vote for them. I just think that there are more outspokenly hard-core conservatives than there are corresponding vocal hard-leaning liberals.

There's a curve somewhere on the nets showing the groupings of the two that also seemed to illustrate the collective resolve of the right, and it showed the majority of liberals being split between young people and the elderly, with most of the conservatives in the middle. All a bunch of 45 year old dudes with time, money, and energy that they aren't spending at the bars or on tinder.
