Would have been the most Sabo thing if instead of a post it was a tweet.

All Over The News Up Here

It's his own personal zamboni - uses it on his huge backyard rink.

And the story gets even more Canadian...
“I ordered a large hot chocolate and came through the drive-thru – there was about three people sticking their heads out the window, all smiling and telling me this is the best thing they’ve ever seen and no worries about the order (because) the lady in front of me actually picked up my order,” Jesse Myshak said.

So, hypothetically, what's the most Canadian headline? I'm going with "Don Cherry, riding a moose driving a Zamboni, runs over a beaver on the way to Tim Horton's and says 'sore-y' while offering a bag of ketchup chips."

I know Vermont isn't technically Canada, but it's pretty damned close.

The show Letterkenny is starting to take off here. Very funny, and every bit as Canadian as Trailer Park Boys.

Outside of quebec and cities like Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, this is what many Canucks sound like. Hoser style.

Some kids want to be Gretzky....others have a different dream...or...Canadian dad.."you want this homemade rink...you better take care of it...not like what happened with that goldfish I bought".

Just a silly, unsubstantiated rumour at this point, but...

Sarah Palin New Ambassador To Canada?

Big news up here today.

"Kingston boy" is a bit of a thing thanks to Don Cherry.

Don is from Kingston, but the love for "Kingston boys" goes back to Doug Gilmour.

That's a sweet tuxedo.

I do have problems with his beer and coffee choices though.

I don't think any self-respecting Canadian I know would drink Bud Light.

Hosers aren't known for their love of craft beers.

Top brands in Canada are Bud, Coors Light and canadian.

I know they aren't into the craft, or even reasonably good beer...when we tried to hit on the Quebecois girls when we went underage drinking in Canada they always wanted American beer..

At least his Bud Light tallies have the Jays logo, but I'd expect someone of his caliber to swilling Black Label or Labatt Blue.

Had a bunch of Black Labels when I was in Michigan last fall and was shocked at how good it was. Not sure it was nostalgia, intoxication or what, but I was digging it.

(But yeah, expected him to be rocking the Blues or Canadians).

Here's the low budget hosers choice around these parts.

Carling Black Label for $1.50 every Sunday night at the Eightball Saloon in Ann Arbor when I lived there. Aaron and I would go there when we were in town and play in a pool tournament and get hammered. Good times.

Drove to MI a few years back and took the short cut across ONT. Stopped at a duty-free shop and they had Brador for some ridiculous cheap price. I still wavered as it was beer of choice at 18, when real beer didn't really exist in the States, or at least wasn't available to me.

I was really surprised how good it was.

Drank a lot of Black Label back in the day. And, Hamm's, the beer refreshing. Bad beer, good times.

Our frat in Montreal had a deal with a shitty brewery.

We would pound back O'keefes and Dow.

Blurgghh!

All this Canadian beer talk is making me nostalgic. I thought Brador was the greatest beer ever, and it was one of the highest ABV beers you could get back in the day. Labatt Blue is the Official Taste of Hangovers. To this day, when I get hungover, I swear I taste Blue and SoCo. Totally forgot about Laker. When we were in the mood to spring for the extra ten cents a case, we'd grab some Laker Ice. Smooooth.

Hamms wasn't Canadian, but we'd get it occasionally, solely because one of our friends got the Hamms shits. Every time. He'd bitch and moan, drink it anyways, and get a bad case of the mud butt. Our 2 main Freshman bars served Kochs Golden Anniversary, $3/pitcher. Always painfully to finish. Just fuckawful beyond anything I've ever had. My college roommate's father drank it exclusively. Same guy who ate Cheerios for breakfast every day, grumbling that he wished it wasn't necessary to eat, because it's a waste of time. Always a good time hanging out with Mr. Miller. Googled Koch's, and the third hit was "Koch’s Golden Anniversary: The Worst Beer in America?" Yes. Yes it was. Some gems from the blog post:
The stench. As soon as you cracked a can, a funky skunky stench permeated the air. It was bitter, metallic, robust, musky...

The taste. If possible, it tasted worse than it smelled. It was musty, musky, murky. Not unlike swamp water. Bitter, pungent, and heavy.
And the ultimate sign of how far beer has come in the US, Golden Anniversary somehow won the gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 1987 as the best American Lager. Holy fuck!

Brador!

6.2% and the most expensive beer at the Brewer's retail.

When I was 13, my father took my brother, his friend (both 15) and I to Montreal for a couple of days. he had business, and my brother and his buddy (named "Buddy" a it turns out) were going to see Pink Floyd at Olympic Stadium.

Day of the concert, while my dad was making his sales calls, my brother fired up his hash pipe and he and Buddy managed to get 6 Bradors from the "depainneur" (convenience store) across the street. I wasn't sure about getting high, but the guys insisted - this way, I couldn't tell on them! They were ripped by the time they left me alone and on a hash/Brador buzz alone in the hotel room. I remember going to the pool for bit and later my dad complained that the room smelled like cigarettes.

Five years ago, Justin Trudeau (then the leader of the Liberal party and not the Prime Minister) took on a real piece of shit conservative Senator in a boxing match.

A friend (father from one if the kid's soccer teams) is a local firefighter, and spent part of this last week at a firefighter amateur hockey tournament up in the Toronto area. On the last full day of the trip, one of the guys on the team who was along more to hang out than to play got into drinking contest at a bar called The Penalty Box, which was adjacent to one of the rinks. His opponent was a 90 year old local who after a couple minutes of conversation just flat out challenged the guy to go beer for beer with him. When the firefighter bowed out, the victorious 90 year old leaned back, pulled two cans of sardines out of his jacket and ate them in the middle of the bar with a smile on his face.

The firefighter had to change his flight and catch a later one home the next day.

There's a Penalty Box bar at an arena not far from me. Nice to know that there are hosers and haystacks in the hood.
