Bears give up two 3rds and a 4th to get the honor of reaching for Trubisky. Jesus. Thank god I'm not a Bears fan. But glad they're in the NFCN.

And they dumped all that money into Glennon.
Fucking hell.

Nice for the 49ers. They likely got the guy they were going to draft at #2 anyway, plus those picks from Chicago. Pennies from heaven.

Even after the Lions sign Stafford to the biggest contract in NFL history later this offseason the Lions will still be guaranteeing only a little more money to the QB position than the Bears.

I will always be a somewhat irrational Kirk Cousins hater, so I hope that trade happens and then everything goes wrong that you'd expect to happen with the Browns.

Why mock drafts should be mocked endlessly. Trades in the 1st round.
KC moving up. And now Houston moving up.
Edit:
All these trades are to reach for a QB, btw.

The only thing dumber than paying mike glennon is not drafting a guy you think will be a franchise qb because you have mike glennon

My son has just sent me a number of Trubisky memes. Doesn't seem like they are very happy about this move in Chicago.

If this is a QB or dead league, wouldn't signing Glennon and drafting the other guy make sense? Passing on a QB you suck, if both suck, you still suck, if one is good, you win.

Ny favorite potential outcome: Glennon gets hurt this year and Trubisky is thrown into the fire because Mark Sanchez is unplayable. He sucks and Glennon is unknown, leading the Bears to pick up another year of his contract. This cycle repeats the following year with the added bonus of Trubisky being officially ruined. In desperation, the Bears pick up the final year of Glennon's contract and he starts the season hot. The Bears rush to extend his contract, then he ends up sucking as soon as the ink is dry.
The good news is they both have the opportunity to throw to WR and TE groups that are both probably bottom five in the NFL.

The problem is a "good" quarterback is almost always not nearly enough in a "QB or dead" league. Jay Cutler qualified as "good" the year before last (10th in QBR). And with the amount of other trash on the their roster (WR, TE, DB), you can't piss away other valuable assets, such as 3rd- and 4th-round picks (especially if you didn't need to move up one spot, which it is pretty universally believed they did not have to do).

I like a lot of things about this Evan Engram pick, but mostly that he will make the Giants an unstoppable juggernaut.

I do get these picks don't happen in a vacuum but can't imagine a world where you have a choice between Trubisky and DeShaun Watson and you're like "yeah I want the guy who didn't do shit in college"

Maybe one in which you've watched Watson routinely airmail open wrs by 5 yards. Craig krenzel did shit in college. What did matt stafford do?

OK, let's bet $1,000. You get Trubisky and I get Watson. We can debate the parameters of the bet but I'll bet Watson has a better career. You're already getting an advantage because Trubisky was the second overall pick so don't give me any bullshit about schemes or personnel or fit or any of that shit.

How many extra yards does he get for being the 2nd overall pick? I know that's more important than stupid bullshit like "where do you play football at and with whom".
My point is not Trubisky v. Watson, I don't know enough about Trubisky to bet on him. My point is guy who won national championship v. guy who didn't historically. Tim Tebow and Troy Smith and all kinds of guys who did everything in college v. guys who didn't do jack shit. Do you think Deshaun Watson on UNC beats Alabama?

Classic fun watching the panel of experts on ESPN get things so wrong, so early.
And in the cold light of day, I still can't figure out that Bears trade. If the 49ers felt that Trubisky was their man, why would they make that trade? And if they didn't want him, why did the Bears make that trade?
Was the braintrust of the Bears bluffed that easily?

From what I heard on the radio this AM, I think the worry was more that someone else was going to trade with the Niners and take the QB, not that SF was going to take him. Still could have been a bluff, of course.

Trubisky is the guy you take when you don't trust your QB coach's ability to develop a talent like Watson, because they're not even in the same species of QB potential.

Don't think it's remotely similar to compare Tebow or Troy Smith to Watson seeing as how the latter can throw a football farther than 40 yards.
ETA: And I don't feel the need to beat a dead horse, but each player is his own guy with his own sets of advantages and limitations. My defense of Watson has nothing to do with Clemson winning a national championship and more that he has some unique talents that apparently NFL scouts trip over themselves to dismiss because...?
And that's what I don't understand. I really think he has the ability to be the next Russell Wilson. For a variety of reasons both within and outside of his control he might not get there, but it's not a crazy comp.

The Bengals got much needed pure speed opposite Green. If you can't block (and they can't) and there was no one at o-line worth the #9 overall (and there wasn't) then making it extra hard to stack the box and make teams think twice about blitzing isn't a bad thought.

I do too. I don't think Watson will be as good as Russell Wilson but there are parallels in that Houston is adding a talented QB on a cheap rookie contract to a roster that already has a stacked defense. If that team gets even league average QB play, it could be a title contender.

The Texans took a shot at high upside, whereas the Bears have rolled the dice on guaranteed mediocrity.

It wasn't that he was so bad, which he was. It's also that he and the coach straight up hated each other and had to be separated in the locker room at halftime of the last regular season game of the year.

Great move by the Browns, although they now have a very expensive place holder pencilled in as a starter.
