That was a BANANAS last 15 minutes or so...

Thoughts:
- I'm no expert, but I thought Kane got played onside when the 'Pool defender touched the ball before it got to him.
-Wanyama's goal was a thunderbolt from the Gods.
-Mo Salah is a blast to watch. I hope the Egypt side has enough to get him into the knockout rounds in the World Cup.
-That last penalty was WEAK....

Not just weak - a terrible call. Have you ever seen a linesman make that kind of call?

Salah is a fantastic player - but if I'm a Liverpool fan, I'm not happy at the way Spurs made adjustments and just eliminated my midfield in the 2nd half.

I love Pocchetino by the way.

Wrong! That was all Arsenal, and a taste of how every game will be now that they have Aubameyang and Mihki!

Is it acknowledged (or even correct?) that Liverpool is the 2nd most fun team to watch?

I hope they don't can him. Chelsea are in the midst of an awful stretch, but it's not all Conte's fault. They have had too much roster turnover, they've been playing a ton of games, and they've had a ton of injuries (8 hamstring injuries alone this season, I think). They just rarely get to put out their best lineup, especially lately.

Firing the manager is the last thing this team needs. They need continuity.

Yeah, I'm not trying to predict the outcome, just stating what I think should happen.

I don't know if Conte's to blame or someone else, but I also find it frustrating how Chelsea seems so determined to solve roster problems with new signings instead of promoting their young players. They have so much young talent, but they never seem to give the kids good minutes on the first team. Instead, they loan them out and sign some other player. Why not build more from within? Constant roster turnover can't be positive.

That said, it seems that's how ALL the top clubs are. They have a great season and then replace 25% of the players. It's odd. I guess I get that anyone who plays at a Chelsea, Man U, Real Madrid, etc., doesn't want to ride the bench because he could be a star almost anywhere else. But that's just more reason to promote a few of your home-grown teenagers.

Well, Spurs don't! (I know, you were referring to the other squads.)

And you're right. It's crazy also the lack of patience at some of these teams and at Chelsea in particular. You could have the foundation of an awesome squad with their castoffs.

You could, but how many games total are spent on prospects who didn't develop or developing players before they're top level?

I feel like Chelsea let ManU off in the first half. Someone needs to hypnotize Hazard and convince him to just fucking shoot sometimes!

And Morata wasn't offsides on that game-tying goal.

A friend who is fairly new to watching the EPL texted asking what this game was, and whether it mattered. Like I told him, if Arsenal wins, it matters, if not, nobody cares about the League Cup. And booooo for the horrible pun.

The League Cup has absolutely no reason (other than $$$) for existing. It's the FA Cup without part-timers. In my lifetime it has been known as the League Cup until 1981. Since then it's been the Milk Cup, the Littlewoods Challenge Cup, the Rumbelows Cup, the Coca-Cola Cup, the Worthington Cup, the Carling Cup, the Capital One Cup, the EFL Cup and the Carabao Cup.

Having said that, Spurs fans went apeshit when they won it a decade ago.

both the FA Cup winner and the Carabao Cup winner gets into the Europa League.

However, there is a catch. If the winners of these cups are already qualified for Europe, it will go to the next highest team ranked in the Premier League, not the runner-up of these cups.

So Burnley may get Europe next year!

Not sure who's still watching or listening to Men in Blazers around here, but this week's 102 show celebration episode (they didn't realize they passed 100 until after they hit 101) featured my friend's kids doing their impersonation of the bald ones.

It was reminiscent of my college sexual experiences, a lot of effort leading to nothing but frustration while other guys keep scoring.

Glad I saw this before watching the game, so I went in expecting the worst, which the first half totally was. I Arsenal scored the penalty, City would have immediately hit back with 3 more goals. No doubt. And Sane is the most exciting young player in the league. That kid could walk through a team whenever he wants.

I still listen (don't have cable, so can't watch the show). They make me laugh.

But I've also started listening to the "Total Football Podcast" twice a week (based on a Swamp suggestion). Very interesting.
