Daily Show on CNN's ineptitude was awesome

A summary:
VIDEO: Jon Stewart Slams CNN for Chaotic, 'Vomit-like' Coverage of Mass Shooting in Washington

Image

"It’s time we kicked those bastards to the curb."
September 18, 2013 | (Alternet.org)

John Stewart ripped CNN apart on Tuesday night’s Daily Show for it’s appalling coverage of the Washington Navy Yard Shooting – specifically for drawing speculative conclusions in the absence of concrete facts.

“All of yesterday's confusion in the reporting is not a mistake, because sadly the one thing in this country they should have great practice in covering are these horrific shooting tragedies and there are a ton of really smart people and good journalists who work at CNN and this is only five months after all the criticism of CNN ‘s chaotic Boston terrorism coverage including when they announced on air an arrest that had not happened,” he said.

Stewart concluded by saying that the “chaos and vomit onto the screen” that CNN displayed is a deliberate “feature, not a bug":

“The lesson they take from this is, it doesn’t matter how much they betray our trust, we’ll keep coming back. We’re in an abusive relationship with CNN!” he said.

Pussy Riot on Colbert

Damn, I was going to post this. Debated the Relations Thread, as I think I am in love with Nadya. Besides being cute with the sexiest lips ever, she is hilarious in that clip. I love how she would hear the translation of Colbert's joke, show no emotion, just a twinkle in her eyes, then rip a hilarious sarcastic comeback. So sexy. Plus, she is such a badass. No fear of being thrown back in jail, almost asking for it. Not almost, she essentially dared Putin to throw her back in prison. Plus, to taunt the Russian anti-gay laws, she and her Pussy Posse walk up to random female police officers in the street and kiss them. So awesome. And some pics:

Stewart on the media hating Noah.

The best part is the Fox news lady's recap of how she remembers Noah..."You had the two animals each, then the dove came, and this beautiful rainbow, and everybody lived happily ever after."

According to my Twitter timeline from the last few minutes, Stephen Colbert is taking over at "The Late Show" after David Letterman retires.

Wow. Huge blow for Comedy Central.

This sucks. I loved Late Night with David Letterman in my youth and watched as often as I could. But that show slipped from relevancy decades ago.

I hate to lose The Colbert Report. I understand wanting to go out on top, but man, that show is great. And important. Would anyone really care if we lost Late Night after Letterman retires?

Because he plays a character in his show I think it's natural that he'd want to do something different. Just like Fey with 30 Rock...eventually you want to do something else.

I have a feeling he'll still be plenty relevant and riff on a lot of the stuff he already riffs on, just in a slightly different format.

Rush Limbaugh's opinion of the Colbert Hire: Colbert Hire Is Declaration Of 'War On The Heartland Of America'
"CBS has just declared war on the Heartland of America," Limbaugh said Thursday on his radio show. "No longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values. Now it's just wide out in the open."

"What this hire means is a redefinition of what is "funny" and a redefinition of what is comedy," he continued. "It's the media planting a flag here. I think it's maybe the media's last stand, but it's a declaration. There's no unity in this hire. They've hired a partisan, so-called comedian to run a comedy show."

Do Rush's idiot "dittoheads" realize the Stephen from the Report is a character? I'd think Rush knows better. I highly doubt Colbert stays in character for The Late Show, which will be really interesting to see. I can't imagine him doing to the cliched opening monologue/interview/pre-filmed bit/interview/music or comedian routine, but it seems like everyone does, pre-filmed bit optional.

Actually, if they didn't realize it was a character, wouldn't they think he'd be on their side?

No. If they aren't smart enough to see through Rush's cognitive dissonance, flawed logic, premises based on irrational facts... then they aren't smart enough to see your logic. They know Colbert is bad, because they are told he is bad. I doubt many of them have actually watched the show.

I agree, real blow for Comedy Central. I wonder how Colbert's interviews with movie stars will go on the new late show.

and I haven't chimed in on the cancel colbert stuff? It's ridiculous. Asians-Americans are the most entitled, arrogent and butthurt assholes on the planet. Can't stand them. Fucking whine about everything.

A few Asians from California have tried for about 10 years to put together a podcast. They finally did and it was not even 15 minutes and they couldn't put a coherent sentence together and that's supposed to be 'professional'. Their general knowledge of how the world works is so lacking because they live inside a bubble.

Meanwhile the guys on the swamp can put together two 2-hour podcasts and it's one of the best things I've heard in awhile.

Colbert on the Sarah Palin Channel. Palin just came out with her online version of the Oprah channel, and it might be worth the $10 for comedic value. Colbert bought the web address with "the" in front of the title. I hope they put that to good use.
