Yep, same here. Kinda looks like the light conditions about two hours before sunset.

We are past the peak here (75%). I have to say, I was pretty underwhelmed. Jim Bakker had me pretty jacked up for it.

Your eyes adjust so it's really hard to tell the difference over time, 75% coverage is still probably as bright as a cloudy day in the winter. That's why people make a big effort to go to see it at 100% because that last few percent makes all the difference in the world.

It was about 98% in downtown St. Louis and I was still sweating my balls off. I was surprised that it was still pretty light out other than for the few minutes when it was at its peak.

10 minutes until peak. The clouds have periodically blocked out the sun, so it's faded in and out all day. Not expecting much...

Same here in Tampa, unsurprisingly. The dimming of everything is kinda cool though.

A neighbor was out with eclipse glasses. Looking through the glasses, it was really fucking trippy, but otherwise, felt like a cloudy day. I'm sure it was amazing with more than 75% coverage. The crickets were really loud, and the neighbors said a feral bunny was acting weird in their yard, but other than that, not much to report on.

My sister is in Atlanta, and she said the school bought glasses for all the kids, then decided not to hand them out and risk any issues. Kind of sucks, but I can't blame them.

Shows pretty clearly where the hipster line of advance on the south has been set. Surprised more Memphis hipsters didn't clog one northbound route, but Bengal did move to B'more. And Pentz isn't enough to jam the road north from Huntsville.

I'm in Davis today, 79%, I was very surprised the effect was so minimal. Not a perfectly clear day, just a bit of morning haze, and the degree of darkening I never would've noticed. Indirect and video images pretty amazing though.

I have no intention of looking into this... but I'd bet that a similar post was made in all seriousness by a number of people.

Was on vacation last week and didn't get to post until today...

I ended up convincing the family to drive the 2 hours from the beach house with around 99% to 100%. It was an incredible experience. We stopped at a state park in bumblefuck SC and got to see around 20 min of the eclipse at 50%. Then a thunderstorm rolled in and obscured it completely. It was crazy to see it go from dusk to complete darkness in a 20 seconds and then back to dusk a few minutes later.

You should really try and see a 100% event if you can. It's just a surreal experience.

2 years from today is The Big One. 4+ minutes of total darkness in Central Texas. Might try and book our floating timeshare week in Stowe for it and then rent it out. Fuck off, clouds.

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds super cool. Definitely will try to take a trip with the kids. Might even be spring break week. Austin sounds like fun but not sure how important to be well within the path. Indy looks a good spot too but... Indy. Dallas but been there done that for work many times. San Antonio? Cleveland. See Indy. Montreal but April and spring break means water (pool) to me.

IIRC, we're supposed to get 3.5 minutes of totality at my house. Really looking forward to it, even though there's a high chance it will be overcast when it happens. Lots of clouds in early April in Cleveland.

We were on the best family vacation of our lives for this event (Bonaire.) I set up a timer on my iPhone and took one of our "pretend this is going to be an album cover" shot with all of us looking up with our special glasses on.

Epic.
