2017 MLB Playoffs

I don't like the Yankees WC roster at all. 15 hitters versus 10 pitchers is atleast 1 too many hitters given this lineup, Garcia and Montgomery should have been ahead of Shreve even if he's the natural LOOGY, carrying only 2 catchers seems like a risky call, Holliday is wasted here because which lefty is he really going to hit for unless Bird in which case come ooooooonnn?

Also, while the Yankees should definitely be even-odds favorites, +210 on the Twins is a good bet. Severino is clearly the better SP but he's also 23 in his first ever playoff game and like 75 innings beyond his previous high.

Shreve's been pretty nasty against LHB. Is your concern that the Binder will say pull Severino when he gives up a leadoff hit in the 3rd?

+210 for any major league baseball game seems like crazy high odds.

Depends on pitching matchups. For example, I doubt any Kershaw start this year saw the team playing the Dodgers at less than about +200.

Agree though that for this game, it seems pretty high. My sense would be closer to Yankees -170/Twins +150 or there abouts.

Twins by 1 or 2 runs is +385 plus the satisfaction that the dumbest thing just happened.

Going to game 2 on Friday. Here's how the last playoff game I went to ended:

Yeah, the numbers work, but he's always teetering on the edge of disaster and he's got a little Melancon in him where the bigger situations seem to equal even shittier mechanics + command. League average getting to 3 ball counts is like 20% and he was at 33% for the season. I can't think of a situation I'd want him in, either its too close or its not a game where you'd really use a LOOGY. Nightmare scenario is CC takes the early LOOGY, the game goes forever and dumb ol' Chasen is the last man in the pen.

Surprised at how many seem to think going Hicks in CF and Ellsbury DH over Ellsbury + Holliday is a tough call.

Hicks looked fine in his one week return from injury. Unless Holliday had some great history against Santana, oh shit, they started this shit on time, gotta go…

So those two homers are basically outs or doubles at worst in half of the stadiums in the majors.

And I don’t get backing up the debut with a debut. Should have been Robertson here.

It's just going to be that much more aggravating when the Yankees win this, isn't it?

Satisfied with yourself?

Both pitchers got squoozed on borderline pitches.

Maybe for the better. Severino wasn’t within a foot of the glove on any pitch I remember.

(Wonder if the Yankees have Gray prepping like he would for a start but in the 4th or something.)

Not sure it'll ever make it to the 4th inning so we'll never know.

Brett Gardner's "Fuck You" pose on his HR was a thing of beauty.

Holliday isn't healthy yet after he contracted some sort of dengue fever a couple months ago.

I'll have to go back and check the official stats, but I believe that's one more home run than A-Rod ever hit in October.

He was almost drilled in the head by a 98 MPH brushback pitch. I tend to fall on your side with the over-exaggerated bat flipping, but that one was earned.

So Buxton hit his head against the wall and then somehow managed to get on second base later in the game? Too bad the Blue Jays weren't around to run the hidden ball play on him.

This game has had everything!

(And if you’re carrying Shreve, how is Mauer not the spot here versus Kahnle???)
