Sorry, I gotta live it up before it all comes crashing down.
Hm. -21 since this post.

How does the NHL draft lottery work again?
It's fixed to make sure teams that are rarely in it get the first pick, so Chicago will probably win it this year.
Be careful. Edmonton is in the lottery this year.

It appears this Swedish defenseman, Rasmus Dahlin is considered head and shoulders above other prospects. So, it seems likely the league would like him in a major market.

Like Phoenix.

I'm not saying the league should have a vested interest in getting Lundqvist a Cup before he retires and that dropping Dahlin onto a roster that also has about $25MM to spend is their best means of doing so, but maybe they should consider it.

400 wins for Fleury. Fitting in a way he got it in Pennsylvania at least I suppose.

38 saves on 40 shots, wins his 400th game and not even named one of three stars. Never change, Philly.

Ovi gets 600 last night. Now we start talking about who he is going to overtake. Next goal ties Jari Kurri (601). Then onto Dino Ciccarelli (608) and Bobby Hull (610).

Grant Fuhr - Battle of Alberta

Oilers are in town tonight. Flames have lost 7 straight to the Oilers, how does the coach still have a job?

The rivalry is fun, but I hate it when the old-timers run that old lie that "the game was cleaner and didn't have cheap shots when teams had their goons to police the other players". What a crock of shit. You regularly had horrible cheap shots - like this one.

He's talking about the 80s, not 2001.

I separate hockey as pre and post 1994.

I still think there were plenty of cheap shots in the 70s, 80s, etc.

There were.

But I don't think players like Kesler, Burrows, Ott, Marchand etc... would survive in that era. Teammates would get tired having to fight for them.
Claude Lemieux was the 80s cheap shot artist but he was in many fights.

Just spitballing here, but I'd bet a cheap shot by Ott precipitated half of them.

Lots of cheap shot artists fight often, now, recently, and long ago.

In other news, Ott is now an assistant for St. Louis, and that player poll i posted the other day listed him as a likely future NHL head coach. Jeebuz!

That isnt a good thing. Drouin is supposed to be 60+ by now. That's why they signed him. He is not NHL ready, I took him 2nd in one of my pools, I hate the fucker. But i've taken him every year since he was drafted, first year he didn't even play in the NHL, bad pick. But he better pick it up soon, I have to draft him again next year or someone else will.

Oh. gotcha. and now they have a Sergachev as well. Montreal lost that deal. But even with Sergachev, I don't think Tampa Bay can win the Cup, they aren't built for a playoff run. Boston and Pittsburgh have teams built for playoffs. I'd prefer to see Tampa Bay represent the Eastern Conference in the finals but I don't think it's going to happen.

My ideal Stanley Cup Final this year would be Tampa vs San Jose. But I don't think either of them will make it.

They really need to figure out the goaltender interference rules because it’s worse than figuring out what an NFL catch is at this point.

Yeah, that one in the Vegas game tonight was fairly obviously interference. But, like every other NHL penalty, it's called inconsistently and randomly.

Vegas got a successful review earlier in the year to overturn an opposing goal that I thought was wrong so I realize these things even out but it’s still frustrating as hell.

This just reminds me of the year they decide to get all tight on the crease violations (until Brett Hull scored the winner in the Cup playoffs).

2. How long before his beer league buddies get tired of hearing about it?
3. Did his wife make him do dishes or give him shit door staying out to watch hockey again instead of putting his kids to sleep?
4. Did he get a star?
5. Did he go drinking with the team last night?

Buchnevich picked Kucherov while he was already engaged with another Ranger. Looked like a knee on knee at first. Stamkos didn't hesitate to retaliate, got 17 PM. Ended up 7-3 Bolts. I like a couple of your young guys. They'll look good in Bolts blue in a few years.
