Political Wingnuttery Depot

I didn't want to honor Alex Jones with his own thread and didn't know where to put this clip. I've heard the name increasingly of late, but never actually heard him speak. I gathered he was a wingnut in the Beckian vein, but my G-d is he nuts. How can anyone listen to this dreck? Especially since between 2009-2010 he made at least 45 predictions of Obama either committing false-flag acts of terror for various purposes (confiscating all guns, raising popularity, assuming Globalist power structure(?), destroying world economy...), but he gave short time frames, like within 2 months! He had crazy Y2K predictions, EU collapse predictions with dates, Obama nuking 4 or 5 major cities and killing 50% of the US population... And yet this guy has a sizable following and gets interviewed in the MSM and cited as a credible journalist? WTF? I haven't looked yet, but does he have a history of correct predictions, and the compiler here just cherry picked? I feel like the amount of crazy in this clip is pretty damning, no matter how sane the rest of the show is.

You can skip ahead to the last couple of minutes of this, if you wish, to get an idea of how that loonie thinks:

And, speaking of Jones, one of the most idiotic things ever to happen on a television network, ever, was when that bombastic pompous dunce Piers Morgan began screeching about gun control, his first ever "opposition" guest who would represent the "Right", as it were, side of the debate was, yes, Alex Jones.

What do you even call that sort of debacle? The Double-Reverse Wingnuttery Gambit?

How the fuck do nuts like this get such a public voice? He says everything, no matter how crazy, with full certainty. He doesn't hedge anything, no matter how many times he's been wrong before.

I guess people just are easily swayed by that kind of conviction, no matter what the actual words are. It helps that he has a nice, gravelly radio voice.

That's right, you or somebody posted that. That was the first I heard of Jones. Didn't realize the level of crazy he is. One of the train-wreckiest segments ever. They are both idiots. This is when Jones was calling for Piers to be deported, which wouldn't be such a bad thing...

Bet we will.

Bet she'll be on TV, regularly screeching. Best way for her to get paid, considering her core competencies (screeching).

Yes, it's the crappy Daily Mail but scroll down a bit to the video of Andrew Neil mocking Alex Jones. Tremendous reaction from the interviewer:

I think there are many atheists who - in light of Mr. Beck's affliction - are rethinking their lack of belief in a higher power.

I know this has gotten some national run but it's quite possible you've missed this story...and you should see it. As she best summed up the ridiculousness, I'll let Rachel Maddow introduce you to Maine's Governor:

Couple notes:1) the State Senator he hates so much, Troy Jackson, reps my area. We are exceedingly sparsely populated district and logging (with potato farming) is a huge employer here. Mr Jackson did in fact used to work in the woods. 2) You may be wondering how this idiot got elected in the first place considering Maine is hardly tea-party country. He won a three way election against two liberal candidates and garnered a whopping 39% of the vote.

Enjoy

I am hard pressed to imagine a more perfect example of political correctness bullshit. And this thread, as good a choice as any.

KU puts professor on administrative leave for tweet sent after Navy Yard massacre
The professor tweeted Monday that “blood is on the hands” of the National Rifle Association.

“Next time, let it be YOUR sons and daughters,” the tweet read. “Shame on you. May God damn you.”
I was gonna let this slide. But the press release from the university was just too perfect, and it sucked me in.
On Thursday, Ann Brill, dean of the university’s journalism school, said Guth’s views “do not represent our school, and we do not advocate violence directed against any group or individuals.”

While the First Amendment allows anyone to express an opinion, Brill said, “that privilege is not absolute and must be balanced with the rights of others.
Clearly, Dean Brill is hopelessly confused between what is a right, what is a privilege, and the function of the First Amendment (which is not to allow or disallow anyone outside of Congress). But her lack of clarity is not the point.

The point is, exactly what 'rights of others' were abridged, violated, threatened, or in any fucking way interfered with by this dumbass tweet?

None.

Not a single goddamned right of any person was violated by these words.

There is so much wrong with this action taken by the University of Kansas. I suppose a 'Death of Academia' thread is in order. but, like I said, this is Political Correctness in action. This is what I am talking about. This attitude which controls an ever increasing amount of behavior, rules and action in our less free country is a horrendous danger. Along with all the other senseless fucking horrors of USA society.

PC is not alone. PC is not the worse force squeezing our freedom. But it ain't nothing.

'Hate speech' and 'advocating violence' my fucking ass. What a fucking joke.

Putting him on leave because the tweet violates the impossibly nebulous idea of what constitutes correct is ridiculous; political correctness is, after all, completely hypocritical at its heart. Obviously. He does perhaps give them enough ammo to put him on leave for being staggeringly stupid. If the dean issued a statement saying "Until now, we had no idea how much of an idiot this guy was and we don't want someone that fucking dumb teaching your kids", I'd have some respect for her.

More importantly, best I can tell, he was not using a KU account. Just his own personal account. Clearly the guy is an utter moron but there is a rather enormous surplus of brainless dolts on social media; he's not unique. But just like every other similar low-info troglodyte on social media sites, he has a right to be an imbecile. He can believe whatever he wants, no matter how absurd. If he wants to believe that snorting goat piss will make him lose weight, hey, that's his call.

Ludicrous hypersensitive over-reaction to vacuousness. Stupidity is now a violation of human rights.

The title of this article from something called "Forward Progressives" is pretty stupid. The gist of the article seems like a coherent point point to make. But "terrorism" is too strong a term to use for something that's "obstruction" at best.

It’s Official — the Republican Party Has Now Become the “American Taliban”

I don't know who Allen Clifton is, but he needs to stop jacking off to the final episode of Season 1 of The Newsroom so much.
Terrorism can be seen as any calculated, and planned, attack on the United States meant to purposefully inflict harm.
Actually, Mr. Progressive, terrorism, as defined by the PATRIOT Act, is:
activities that (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the U.S. or of any state, that (B) appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion, or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping, and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
So yea. This dude's use of hyperbole is like sooo terrorism, bro.

The assumption inherent in that article of the integral necessity of Obamacare is the stupid. The elevation of any attack upon, or attempt to defund Obamacare as a threat to the lives/existence/something of millions of Americans is childish rhetoric. But typical of political wingnuttery today.

Political comedy, like that, rarely works. And that one just falls flat on its face. It's clearly trying way too hard to be funny. It wants to be funny. All of the elements of funny are there. But like all failed comedy it comes across as stupid. Kind of like how when you're watching stand-up acts, right? If the guy has a good delivery, sets up some good laughs, he's alright in your books. But if the guy sucks? If he isn't funny? Comedy is unforgiving. Everyone in the room says the same thing. And it isn't "well, gee, that wasn't so funny." Nah. Everyone in the room says "what an asshole that guy is". Tough thing about comedy, you're either a genius or an annoying obnoxious asshole. And there's no in between. Although "forward progressives" is a somewhat funny coupling of words, barely, it's really not funny to enough to build a larger routine.

That should be awesome.

There needs to be a word for terrorism in that sense (the above article) where, like, terrorism works in the sentence but it's not like actual terrorism, but it's too strong for a word like chicanery to suffice. HELP ME LINGUISTS

At this point the responses to the Duggar story might be better off here than the godless thread...
Bonus fun with Alaskan dimwits: Palin says, flatly, " I’m not an apologist for any sexual predator," just before she dismisses Josh Duggar's actions as youthful "wrongdoing," and then says the real issue is that the police report was released and that the "media" is going "after the entire Duggar family for one member’s wrongdoing, while giving a total pass to perverted actions of someone like Lena Dunham." And because no Facebook post by Sarah Palin is ever complete without a moment of total monkeyfuck insanity, she jabbers, "Such obvious double standards applied to equally relevant stories underestimate the wisdom of the public, discredit the press, and spit on the graves of every American who fought and died for the press's freedom." Damn, that's the kind of leaping that'd make a parkour expert say, "How the fuck did you get there?"

Why won't Palin just go away already? I watched the Megyn Kelly interview. First point, Megyn sure is hot, but she is the worst interviewer ever. "So, when Josh told you he fingerbanged his 5 year old sister... What was that like?" "When you took Josh to talk to your kiddie porn viewing friend in the State Police... What was that like?" It was a step above Chris Farley's interview skits on SNL.

Jim Bob's answers, IMO, made the situation sound even worse. I gave them the benefit of the doubt in some aspects of the way the media portrayed the events, but Ol' Jim Bob actually made it sound worse than what I pictured. And of course, Megyn (Jebus, that is worse than Caitlyn) had to ask, "do you think you are being targeted because of your Christian beliefs?" Yep, the media and dirty Liberals love child molesters unless they are Christians. Super. One of these days the Christians in America will rise up and break their shackles of oppression.
