I was very tempted to go onto right-leaning or alt-right facebook pages like IJR Red claiming that this was the "crisis actor" David Hogg's dad's number dating back to the FBI days. I demurred as I didn't want it getting back to me.

Too bad. When they go low, we need to stick our feet on their fucking throats.

So the spinmasters in the White House finally figured out something for the fembot to do - try to show compassion to the detained kids the day after they announced that Melania had a hand in swaying Trump's opinion.

Honestly, anyone who believes a word of this spin is not worthy of my contempt.

Just Say It’s Racist

The American press is caught between describing Trumpism accurately and avoiding the wrath of the president and his supporters.

An era in which Americans are supposedly exhausted with political correctness is thus defined by the acute political sensitivities and persecution complexes of white voters who object if things they do and say are described as racist, even as the bodies pile up in the background.
Nice.

BTW, an article called Just Say It's Lying can be written with the same sentiments. Looking at articles like yours, Politico

Pretty clearly a straight-up troll job, not sure if it was her idea or not. The White House is just hoping some journalist or late-night talk show host takes the bait and calls her a cunt so they can distract people from the issue of separating kids at the border. Doesn't seem like anyone has fallen for it yet.

The real way to hammer on this would be harping on the fact its a $40 jacket. Not in an overtly judgmental way, but just keep mentioning it until one of them snaps.

I agree this is what they were doing. It wasn't a tone deaf move. It was meant in hopes that a media profile reacts harshly (as you stated) in an effort to achieve victim status in the face of (again, as you implied) ripping infants away from parents at the border.

This is 1000 percent trolling. This is what we have in the WH. A bunch of people that won an election relying on trolling and they've decided, fuck it, you know what, this works for us, let's really lean into it.

Disgusting.

They are shipping people at the Canadian border crossing now to the detention centers.
Cedella Roman says she was jogging along the beach in White Rock, B.C., when she crossed the U.S. border without realizing it. That began a two-week nightmare that landed her in a prison jumpsuit.

Roman, 19, was jogging south on a cool spring evening May 21. As the tide came in, she veered up and onto a dirt path before stopping to take a photo of the picturesque setting.

She turned around to head home — and that's when she was apprehended by two U.S. border patrol officers.

"An officer stopped me and started telling me I had crossed the border illegally," she told CBC News.

"I told him I had not done it on purpose, and that I didn't understand what was happening."

Roman said she didn't see any signs warning that she was crossing into the U.S. during her jog. She was informed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers that she had entered the country illegally, which they said was captured via security cameras.
"I said to myself, well I may have crossed the border — but they'll probably only give me a fine or they'll tell me to go back to Canada or they'll give me a warning."

Roman, a citizen of France who had travelled to Canada to visit her mother in B.C. and work on her English, didn't have any government-issued ID or travel permits on her.

She said the officers then detained her for crossing illegally into Blaine, Wash., then transferred her more than 200 kilometres south to the Tacoma Northwest Detention Centre — a facility run by the Department of Homeland Security.
"They put me in the caged vehicles and brought me into their facility," she said. "They asked me to remove all my personal belongings with my jewellery, they searched me everywhere.

Roman was held in custody for two weeks before immigration officials on both sides of the border confirmed she was allowed back into Canada. Then she was transferred back into B.C.

Grief can't be predicted and all that ... it sure seems awfully telling when families take an anti-immigrant stance post-murder rather than sympathizing with those immigrants who, temporarily or not, have also lost loved ones.

I just can't take this. For some reason, this Angel family stuff strikes me as the most Hitleresque of all of Trump's shit. I guess it's because stories of crime victims are so compelling, I have little faith that people will realize that they are being deceived. Yes, it is horrible and tragic if your loved one is the victim of a crime. But a victim is no more "angelic" because the perpetrator is an immigrant versus a person born here. And a death is no more tragic if it results from a crime than if it results from an accident.

Immigrants, illegal and otherwise, are less likely to commit crimes than people born here. These folks go through so much to get here and have so much more to lose if they get into any kind of trouble.

Let's put a bunch of victims of domestic violence on the stage. Or victims of drunk driving, medical accidents, or lack of health care. All of those tragedies are far more likely to befall someone than being murdered by an illegal immigrant.

Exactly right. This is straight up Hitler stuff. I know we live in an age where it goes thrown around a lot but even fucking Godwin has suspended Godwin's Law, so let's call balls and strikes like they are. That's straight up scary-ass Hitleresque fascist Nazi bullshit today.

I feel it as well. And it feels like it's somehow gotten worse in the last few weeks? Is that just me or is anyone else feeling it? I've seen some stories where insiders have said John Kelly has just basically said "fuck it" and plays Minesweeper on his computer all day. Maybe this is what we get when they let Trump be Trump.

There is no "compromise" that will ever be good enough. The only solution is total war -- removing from office every GOP politician in this country in every election from dogcatcher to president.

Yup. It’s all about preserving white cultural and political superiority, plain and simple. It’s not about encouraging “legal immigration” or “the right kind of immigrants” and Dems need to stop falling for that trick. Obama in particular had some really crappy immigration policies because he thought that tough enforcement could win people over for broader reform proposals. It won’t.

Someone on Twitter had a good point that someone like John Lewis or Maxine Waters, as important and as powerful as they are, can't comfortably eat in any restaurant in America, so let's not shed crocodile tears that Sarah Sanders got a free cheese plate before being politely 86ed.
