The obfuscation continues...

"Tariffs are the greatest!"

On the day $12 billion has to be sent to farmers to compensate them for the effects of tariffs.

As the major news networks furiously masterbate over this ridiculous tape and the soap opera around it consider:

Trump's SCOTUS nominee is getting the least scrutiny of any nominee since the advent of television
Immigration deadlines get missed and presumably hundreds of families are still separated
War with Iran? So monday.

I'm sure there's lots more. Trump's loving this tape. He didn't fight it's release. The Putin scrutiny is now in rear view mirror and many news organizations appear reticent to revisit "old" news because, well, they're on to the next thing. I see more and more references to 1984 with Trump-speak (and fair enough) but many in the media are also lacking the self-awareness of how badly they are being maneuvered by the Trump Machine.

It's difficult to imagine what Trump will come up with to keep leading the press around by the nose but that appears to be his greatest attribute. At this point I expect his major campaign promise in 2020 will be to release all the government files on Area 51 if re-elected. He'll win in a landslide.

This is what drives the Trump numbers up. The constant outrage by both media and Democratic party.

Another thing. At the slightest disagreement with Obama, Boenher and Mcconnell would elbow their way to a camera like Trump at a photo op. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul would hold near daily press conferences and introduce legislation knowing it wouldn't pass but felt it was necessary to be the face of the Opposition.

Democrats now? In the face of a cartoonish buffoon who should be shown the Fool with a calm logical response, near crickets. I flip daily between CNN and MSNBC and I can't recall seeing Pelosi or Schumer in weeks. I see a Democrat every once in a while but usually it's a one off and they disappear. Especially in an election year, you would think there would be a couple faces of the Democratic Opposition. And this isn't really about elections. Why isn't there someone consistently out there simply on principle?

If he's not in jail, Trump will win in 2020. The Democratic lack of action these first two years will be a fairly large factor in that.

So, Cohen's lawyer releases a tape that takes the case of FELONY charges of campaign finance breaches and you guys somehow think this is part of some master plan to manipulate the media?

No. Nope. Not buying that.

And, degen, you routinely state that Trump is gaining support or boosting his numbers. He is almost exactly where he was after the election in terms of shoring up his base, his numbers with independents and dems continues to stay steady (which is to say overwhelming disapprove) or to turn more negative.

The Putin stuff isn't going to just "fade away." That shit is seared into the public conscious now. Over 50 percent of the country thinks Trump is compromised by Putin. Stew on that. That's not "did they collude," that's saying our President is doing Putin's bidding.

Yes, Trump's overall goal with his tweets to move the story off of whatever bullshit he just did. That's what that moronic tweet about Russia meddling in the midterms was all about.

Today's news cycle? This is absolutely another disaster for Trump.

Because Schumer and Pelosi are reviled even within a good chunk of the Dem base. Because they have, and I'll 100 percent guarantee this, conducted focus groups and private polls that says their best bet is to just let Trump and his minions to pile up L after L... The R's are backing a fucking colossal loser, he is going to be a huge anchor around their neck.

Midterms, as you guys know, are almost ALWAYS a loser for the incumbent party. There's absolutely nothing to be gained by trying to insert themselves into this media mix. It's a disaster for the Republicans. The media is, FINALLY, doing their job and just blasting these guys daily.

Trump's numbers should be in the 20s. The fact that it's steady is a win.

The Democrats just aren't out there. Maybe you are correct that it should be risk free and let Trump hang himself.

But when Ocasio-Cortez won that historic nomination, what was Pelosi's response to it? She totally downplayed it. "It's just a district, it means nothing"

Considering there's nothing you can do to stop the Kavanaugh appointment from happening, there's going to be no scrutiny of his nomination.

There are basically 2 things everyone is waiting on: Mueller finishing his investigation and voting day.

America isn't going to riot and take to the streets because you'll all get fired. The Republican controlled everything doesn't care about your feelings. It's a shit show right now and will continue to be.

The only thing piqueing my interest is McFaul and Russia. Everything else seems to be noise. When it comes to the secret tape, it's clear campaign finance fraud. But then again, Jeff Sessions being questioned by Al Franken was clear perjury, but that is ancient history.

There's literally so much corruption you can't pay attention to everything.

Considering the majority of Americans have assumed Trump would "hang himself" since he came down his escalator, don't you think it might be time to come up with a plan B? It hasn't happened yet and his ability to escape lasting trouble has been impressive.

I still don't see the harm in being out front against Trump, elections or no. And if the two legislative leaders of a party are 'reviled' within their own party, isn't that enough cause for concern? Shouldn't someone at least be positioning themselves to step into those shoes? Not to directly attack their own party but to be visible enough to make the transition more palatable.

I agree with you that the current Democratic leadership is extraordinarily weak. The DNC and Congressional Democrats routinely throw around words like “treason” and “traitor” and claim that our entire democracy is at risk, yet their only proposed action is “vote for Democrats, but not the scary socialist ones.” If you really think Trump is a traitor, why haven’t you already drafted Articles of Impeachment? Even if they’d go nowhere with a GOP Congress, isn’t that a moral imperative if you actually think Trump is working for Putin? Or is all this talk of Putin pulling the strings just political posturing in lieu of running on a bold policy agenda? And when there is a tremendous wave of popular opposition to Trump, why are you still so afraid of any efforts to move the party to the Left?

Also, aside from the Electoral College/popular vote issue there’s a difference between winning elections and winning on policy issues. Aside from the ACA, which the GOP has already started to weaken, what big legislative wins do the Dems have that have advanced progressive goals in the last 25 years?

It's good news.

The Parkland kids have been travelling around the country by bus since June 15th, holding town halls in various cities/towns and registering people to vote at each stop. It's pretty remarkable what these young people have accomplished over the last few months.

There are two teams in American politics. It is rare that it will EVER get below 40%. Seriously - Dems run a trained seal, it will poll in the high 30%s nationally and vice versa.

I can't even with some of you fuckers. You complain about some Dems bitching about Democratic Socialists like Ocasio-Cortez and then with the same breath bitch about more conservative Dems like Schumer, complain about how Pelosi isn't well-liked enough or whatever the fuck enough, complain that the Dems don't win enough when they've won more votes in every fucking election since 1992 other than 2004. In case you didn't notice, they can't do anything about the Electoral College and can do little about gerrymandering currently.

Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch about everything to do with the Democratic Party and then have the ironic gall to complain about how Republicans continue to support racists and Nazis even after they show their bare asses on TV.

It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic and sad. And the ringleader is someone who's fucking proud of the fact that he's never fucking voted. I'm about ready to just fuck off from here and let you all stew in your own misery and spend my time organizing and actually doing something to fix the problem instead of listening to smug fucks like Mr. D jerk himself off to the sound of his keyboard clattering.

Seriously, go fuck off.

Please take 2 million of the 4.3 million California voter overage and disperse them accordingly to states that need them since that's the only way Democrats can seem to win an election per the rules.

We can start by putting ~100k across states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Not only will that have won Hillary the election, but she'd never, ever have to visit there again.

Then you can put ~800k in Texas and flip that. Put ~100k in Florida and flip that. ~500k in Ohio and flip that.

Hmm, ~200k in NC, ~200k in GA, ~100k in Arizona. Flip them.

Blue. Wave.

BTW, I don't live in Nevada - where I'm a resident. And I was too young to register before I enlisted out of Massachusetts.

And since I have registered to vote and did while deployed, the absentee ballot process is ridiculous and not simple. I didn't get a ballot in the mail for the primary in June. And I'm going to call Clark County so I can vote - Democrat, btw because fuck Dean Heller - in November.

And I say that to say...I don't live where votes actually matter. The Electoral College is bullshit and basically makes your vote meaningless.

If you’re going to play that game just switch 1000 votes in Florida in 2000 and maybe Gore is elected and maybe 9/11 never happens.

That was fun. Regardless, continuing to parrot the self-fulfilling prophecy that Democrats are losers is intellectually weak at best.
