Huh. It doesn't shock me, as he's sort of a legendary asshole. But what do you do with a 56-year-old claim like this? Maybe other women will come out with similar stories?

Maybe it’s wishful thinking but grooming and having sex with someone that young doesn’t seem like a one-time thing. If the claim is legit seems like there would be others out there.

Exactly, although I'm not sure I'd refer to it as "wishful thinking." That said, I seriously doubt this woman is making it up.

Wishful thinking in the sense this is some kind of misunderstanding and not a pattern. But yeah seems unlikely to make up something that happened 56 years ago.

I'm curious if there were rumors in his sphere. Like comedians all say they heard rumors about Cosby, and everyone in Hollywood seemed to know about Weinstein. If Dylan groomed 12 yos, word would get around. Even in the 1960s, I would think. And like you said, it's usually not a one-off to groom a 12 yo. I think it's completely plausible he had a history of this and nobody came forward, but people would talk.

Well, I can think of one common reason, but that would be pure speculation.

1) I think it's pretty likely that IF this is true, Dylan could've gotten away with it despite other folks being aware. Cosby was well-known, sure, but absolutely nothing came of it for decades. It took a handful of very strong-willed women coming forward. It's a claim from 56 years ago...

2) The Catch-22 here is that you do need some other victims to come forward to substantiate this. At a minimum, some of her relatives or friends or therapists saying that she talked about this trauma at some point in the past. I'm sure they have that, or there really wouldn't be any reason to come forward. Well, not no reason, but no real hope of getting damages.

A couple more things come to mind:

1) I believe that back in the 1960s, people got away with this sort of shit to a greater extent, because predatory men (especially if they were powerful) were less likely to be prosecuted, and accusers were more likely to be demonized. This may be why we just hearing about it, now.

2) Others may be less likely to come forward, given that it was 50+ years ago. If they didn't tell their story by now, they may not want to relive that chapter of their life. They may have repressed the memory to some extent. They feel they have "moved on". They don't want to be interrogated and/or not believed.

It's a strange accusation given the timeline. The complaint mentions it occurring over 6 weeks in April and May 1965 in New York. But based on Dylan's tour schedule, he wasn't even in New York for almost any of that period. He was on the west coast until mid-April, again in late April, and then went directly from the west coast to Europe, where was from late April until early June. There was basically just one 10-12 day period in April where he could have possibly even been in New York.

But then, that's all information that has been publicly available for years, so if it was just a frivolous claim, then you'd think the accuser would have come up with a timeline that's less easily refutable.

The timeline implication is that it expired today so it had to be filed yesterday.

I remember reading that John Phillips (Mamas & the Papas) used to whore out his daughter, Mackenzie Phillips when she was like 10 or 12. I think there was innuendo involving Mick Jagger. Shit, I think John and his daugther were having a consensual, incestuous relationship when she was on One Day at a Time. Gross.
