Even the very first one, where they even wrote in a secondary way to get at "option" was not a gimme, especially for a top row clue.
I answered "run pass option" aloud and am not sure they would have accepted that answer. I ran the rest of them though.

If you leave the top of the shirt open, there shouldn't be another shirt visible under there imo. If you're buttoning up for a tie, crew neck it all you want, you can't see it.

The first comment in the Deadspin piece on this was a guy saying, "at least he gets laid a lot!"

We watched it real time last night, and my wife and daughter (who are both way smarter than me) both also whiffed on every single football question, so I am not going to judge the contestants too harshly.

But, without question, the best part of the segment was Alex's incredulous half-mocking of them for knowing nothing about football. I was waiting for the champ to give us an "Oh, Alex!", like somebody famously once did.

Bought the Jeopardy! wardrobe yesterday.

Taping is on the 21st - we fly to LA on Saturday (making a vacation of it).

I can not think of anything but the show. Woke up three times last night.

Don't be the stupid idiot who forgets half his (or her) outfits on the second day of taping because he (or she) doesn't get picked the first day and things get a little crazy the next morning and so he (or she) has to wear the same shirt twice

Good luck, Pruitt. Hope you do great.

We watch Jeopardy most weeknights. The thing that always intrigues me is the psychology of how much to bet on the Final Jeopardy question, in a very tight game. Some players bet big, on the presumption they will answer correctly. But, we've all also seen the instances where the player won the game by betting low, because they all missed that final question. I have no suggestions or opinion. Just find it interesting to watch.

Half of Jeopardy! is watching for the trivia, the other half is yelling at people for poor game theory and wagering. It happens an infuriating number of times per week.

P1: 12000
P2: 9000
P3: 1000

Say P1 hits the DD on the second to last clue, leaving a 2000 clue as the final clue. Then that dumb motherfucker wagers 4000. WHY??!?!
There are 2 acceptable wagers in that situation: 11,000 or anything below 1000. Such stupid, stupid geniuses. Frustrates me to no end. Don't be that guy Pruitt! Know your wagers going in!

Also, Alex Jacob would tell you "bet it all" is almost always the best bet. I don't know how far I'd take that, but fortune certainly favors the bold on most of the Jeopardy! I watch.

$10,001 to be exact if you're confident in the category, but I totally agree with the crappy wagers. I'm pleased to say I went for it all on my DD, albeit I missed it, and went all but $1 for FJ.

This egger's got an entire site dedicated to how to wager... http://thefinalwager.com/

And after running through dozens of scenarios, it comes down to a few rules: If you're in first, you have to bet at least $1 over 2 times the 2nd place guy.

If you are in 2nd - at least $1 over what the guy in first has before he bets (and more than double the 3rd place guy.

And obviously, if the category is "World Cup History" I bet like mad. If it's "Physics", I curse fate and bet the minimum.

Best wishes and break a leg. Take comfort in the knowledge that any mistake or wrong answer will be remembered and remarked upon for years to come by your homies here.

And that woman a couple of weeks ago who repeatedly made wrong bets in final but won in spite of/because of them, don't let that spook you.

Pruitt, Ryan, who was the third swamper on Jeopardy?

So worried that I'll get a bunch of shit categories.

But I must say, I crushed it the last two nights (including Final Jeopardy!) so my confidence level is decent right now.

You get basically unlimited time to figure out your FJ wager. You will stare at that scrap paper (index card) with that Sharpie in your hand for what seems like 45 minutes, making sure that your math is right.

Well I’m here to tell you that you’re on Jeopardy and it’s simple math so of course it’s right. Probably. Check it anyway though. Many times.

What he really needs, Turd, is your secret advice for buzzing in at just the right time. Do they open it up for you to buzz in as soon as Alex starts speaking, or do you have to wait?

The buzzing is a known - there's actually a guy in the studio who hits the buzzer release as soon as Alex is finished giving the clue, then lights flash on the board. Ken Jennings says that the key is to imagine that alex is saying another syllable and buzz to coincide with it. If you buzz too early, your buzzer is locked out for a half second.

That wagering thing is interesting though. So there's no excuse for people who mess up their bets?
