why are we talking about the playoffs in this thread and why did I just now realize that?
Annoyed me too, but didn’t want to jinx the Steelers by starting my own thread!
you can do it now!
(semi-surprised Ben said he was coming back for next year and didn't play drama king. unless he's gonna do the "I'm not so sure" thing in March and April and then come back for training camp)

Was a thoughtless play by Williams. Just sit back and make the tackle.
I think he broke on the ball and then changed his mind and thought it wasnt going to be caught, so avoided contact so as not to draw a penalty that would've set up a FG.
They said on post game, as the Saints took a timeout just before the play, the message was likely to the secondary to not take a pass interference call.
Kung Fu movies are like porn. There's 1 on 1, then 2 on 1, then a group scene..
Lost in all the excitement and noise (and final score) is the fact that Roethlisberger had one of the most impressive games I can remember seeing a QB have. His TD passes were things of beauty - the coverage on all of them was pretty much perfect. And his lateral to Bell for the TD had me out of my seat and yelling.
"beautiful, with an exotic-yet-familiar facial structure and an arresting gaze."
Spot on. Despite the stupid audible on their last fourth down play, Roethlisberger actually hit Smith-Schuster on the hands with a guy draped all over him...he could have made the catch.

In making that decision, you're assuming that your kicker is not going to take an absolute shit on the 35 yard line.
I want to give my defense one more chance to be my defense and Bortles one more chance to Bortles.
With a proper onside kick that goes ten yards, your defense has one more chance to be your defense. It was the bad kick that really screwed them.

If they kick deep and Jax converts, I would bet a million dollars that the reaction would be like "Why did they pass up the onside kick? How can you trust that defense?".

The reason I know this to be true is Dan Fouts was calling for them to kick deep so kicking deep was the wrong choice. I think the onside was right decision, because like you said, your defense can still get a stop, but you kind of expect them to be a few yards worse in field position. Bad execution makes it look like a bad playcall.
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.

I personally would have probably kicked deep, but a friend in a GroupMe was saying they need to onside kick here.
Basically you could argue either side and I find it odd that the internets are calling it one of the worst decisions they've ever seen.
Yeah, it was 50/50 at worst.
What's worse is that whether some Steelers fans want to believe it or not Tomlin is one of the best in the game at in-game decisions. He's aggressive without being stupid and is right way more than he's wrong. Even in a playoff game, he should have earned some credit for usually making the right decisions.

Cincy Enquirer with an interview with Mike Brown today in which Brown confirmed the wins over Detroit and Baltimore were decisive in Marvin coming back. So thanks for that, brian and bfj.

So a miracle play cemented his status?
Wow.

If u mean second half then sure. Coughlin is fucking kryptonite. Jags have just plain played better. Somehow they have to stop the run and shut down the screens and dare bottles to keep hitting them on play action and live with it. Td was bug but offense looked bad. Overwhelmed really.
