I definitely was not in midseason form.

Can you take a look at mine? I paypal'd you $500, so I want at least 2 sentences. This is from a company softball outing a couple years ago, so leave out the part about the black sleeves clashing with the navy shorts. I did that on purpose to give the impression that I did not care. I actually cared deeply.

You can be forgiven for not noticing the similarities to Junior's swing because it's from the opposite side of the plate.

AB's form is beautiful…for a golf swing. Got the reverse "C" and everything.
I love shagging flies in the outfield.

Made it out to MMP with a few friends, courtesy of our buddy from Michigan who's a Tigers' fan. Because of him, I was until we moved to the AL. Anyway, our seats end up about 10 rows behind the dugout, smack in the middle of his fellow Tigers' fans (unplanned). I had a couple and laid some very weak smacktalk after Kinsler's winning HR. But I gotta say, it feels nice to be pissed off at losses again.

First you need to work on those calves. I suggest a steady regime of "lifting heavy things" with your legs regularly.Ryan wrote:Can you take a look at mine? Re: Swampers at the Ballpark
Went to the O's @ Nats game last night.
1.) Way more Orange than Nats blue/red at the stadium (and the fans were vocal about it)
2.) Taught my nephew how to keep score. Feel like with phones, scoreboards, etc the idea of keeping score is a dying art that needs to be taught.
3.) Seats in the Scoreboard Pavilion are not too bad (paid $10 for the tickets on stubhub). You really get a great view of each pitch. Only problem is balls to the track in right field get lost unless you are low (i.e. i did not see Rendon's ball go over the fence or the O's fans throw it back)
4.) We left after 10 innings and of course heard the roar from the stadium when the O's started their 6 run inning in the top of the 11th.
5.) MLB PrePlay (interactive app where you predict the at bat and other events during the game) is a great way to keep an 2nd grader focused on the game (along with keeping score)...but I probably benefited from a slow network/game several times (I am good a predicting the outcome when the play has already happened...yeah 1st pitch ball in plays)

Re: Swampers at the Ballpark
Ground ball up the middle, Jeter ranges 30 feet to his left, steps on 2B and throws to 1B to complete the double play. 6-3 or 6-6-3 on your card?
Re: Swampers at the Ballpark
Saw the extra innings Twins/Yankees tilt at Target Field on July 5th. Not a particularly great game, but a fun finish. Can't remember the last time you could score the end of a game: 1-2, E2. The ballpark is just fantastic, we sat on the first base side right by the RF wall and it was a great seat (I yelled at Ellsbury in center most of the time). They looked to have some great food but I was very happy with the large Summit beers for 9 bucks. I know it's robbery still, but that's almost as cheap as I get them at minor league games here in Indy. I was pleasantly surprised and pleasantly buzzed after a few of them and sitting in the July sun all afternoon.
3 down. Several many more too go.

6-3 with the DP notations...but see the merit in the 6-6-3 model. On the other hand, Jeter only makes that play if they are shifted.mister d wrote:Ground ball up the middle, Jeter ranges 30 feet to his left, steps on 2B and throws to 1B to complete the double play. 6-3 or 6-6-3 on your card?

Very much this. The best thing ever was when my son got old enough to go to the park and hit me some fly balls to chase.howard wrote:I love shagging flies in the outfield.
Making a diving catch is better than sex. Because if you spend enough money with the right people, you can be pretty sure of having sex. You can't be sure of being able to make a diving catch.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
Re: Swampers at the Ballpark
If Jeter has to go 30 feet to his left I score it as a single to centerfield.

For any of the Baltimore guys, I'll be at Camden Yards this Saturday 7/12.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.
Re: Swampers at the Ballpark
We went to Friday night's game with the Pirates, and got some great seats. We were given tickets in the first row of the Club section, about 15' to the right of home plate.
The come-from-behind win was fantastic, and a total team win. About every player contributed, and the relief pitching was superb.
After the game, we were treated to Friday night fireworks, by Rozzi.

It's the sixth version of The Swamp. What could possibly go wrong?

Dodgers/Giants at AT&T, headed out now. Next two evenings as well. I don't even care that Dan Uggla is starting tonight at 2nd. (Well, I care a little bit. But Timmay!)

Not a great weekend to visit the old ballpark.

Lots and lots of Dodger fans, very loud too (but they had plenty to cheer.) Good time regardless; still the happiest place on earth.

Re: Swampers at the Ballpark
Is there a such thing as a Mets secondary ticket exchange out there or do people just laugh at you if you're trying to go?
(Looking for mid-week tickets against Washington. Can't imagine all the season ticket holders are overly fired up to go for that entire set.)

Going to see some foreigners kick the ball around at the big football stadium this afternoon. Hoping to pick up some of those diving DVD's that Ronnie's been flogging at a discount price.

Spent all night staring at Roberto Kelly's ass. He looks like he could still play. Surprised at how small some of the guys looked. Especially Pence. Though his socks were fantastic.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

Mobile remote reverse hex. Bitches. Too bad I didn't reverse-hex Michael Morse's ability to judge a fly ball, or lack thereof. (I feel him; I've made that exact same misjudgement, when I was 16 or so.)

The next section over this afternoon, two little kids in Giants gear, name on back Sabean.
Since he is my age, I don't know if the little GMs are children or grandchildren. Or if one of them can play second base (the older looks about the same age as Matt Duffy.)

Re: Swampers at the Ballpark
Saw a game at the Yale Bowl today, Elis vs Army.
Why: I have a friend from childhood whom I remain very close to, and I have become close to his children as well. Dave is the one who lives in Portsmouth, NH, and his son just started at West Point. In this his first year, they have few opportunities to leave the post/campus for a weekend, but away football games give him a chance to split, if he has a ride. So, Uncle Howard to the rescue. He has to attend the game, but the rest of the weekend is his.
So, I went to this game, and I'll catch a few more Army games. Today was cool because it is the 100 year anniversary of the Yale Bowl. And the undersized Ivy League side pulled off an overtime upset, 49-43. Great day in a great old stadium.
