Swampers at the Ballpark

Hit the yard with kranepool Jr. last night to watch R. A. Dickey fall to 2-3.

Brett Lawrie was fuckawful, going 0-4 with 2 Ks and an error, throwing his gloves and bat at the batboy in different directions and stomping his feet like a petulant child.

I have no idea what I'm doing with a camera.

I can't figure out where your seats were from those different angles.

I ended up taking about 500 photos (in rapid-fire "sport" mode). The top pic was where our official seats were, section 334 up high ($9!)

We moved clockwise each inning. Official attendance yesterday was 13k, but there were far fewer at the park.

I'm going to the Phillies-Indians game tonight. Will be my first ballpark trip of the year. Cliff Lee vs. Trevor Bauer and his 40-minute pre-game warmup. My seat is in the left field bleachers, so I'm hoping for seven more HRs from the Tribe tonight.

My brother in law's company bought 4 season tickets for the Reds this season and I got use them for the Nationals game on April 7th for the Cueto v. Strasburg matchup. They are excellent seats, about a dozen rows from third base, and I'm hoping that I get to use them again with more than a six hour notice.

Have tickets to the 5/25 game at Comerica between the Tigers and Twins. That game is a 4 p.m. start and Detroit City FC has a home game that night at 7:30 p.m., but I don't think "doing the double" is going to fly with the wife and in-laws. Too damn bad too because they're THISCLOSE to each other and one of the bars by the stadium gives you two free drinks if you show ticket stubs to both.

Damn . . . unlucky, Brian. That looks like about a ten-minute walk?

Yep, about. And the best parking is over there by the soccer stadium anyway. We usually park over there and have a drink or two before the game.

That's gross, but if it is an emergency and the option is taking my tray into the bathroom or shitting my self, I'm taking the tray in with me. If I'm that vendor, I tell my bosses that I was going to throw the rest away after I finished and I didn't want someone to steal the tray or steal all the sno cones if I left it outside the bathroom. Sno cones are gross enough without adding the bathroom element anyway.

Impossible for him to get another job in the insanely competitive snocone vendor industry.

Got tickets tomorrow for what I'm sure will be a preview of the World Series -- Pittsburgh at Detroit. Thought about going to the Twins game today, but F the Twins, amirite?

Jinx skitterish.

Plus, I wanted to keep myself from running you down for your silence during game 6 and 7 in 2009.

Got Hamels v. Strasburg down in D.C. today, and got pretty much what I expected, Cole still not getting a lead since the beginning of April. Though going to games with an 18-month old means I'm missing a lot of the game. I rarely get up more than once during a game, but I pretty much missed innings b3-t7 today, which was only about 45 minutes. Back home in Philly for June 3rd against the Fish.

Sold out Comerica Park on Memorial Day. Must see JV on the mound. Doesn't get any better than this.

He has flat-out sucked over his last 3 outings. Off to a shaky start today too.

I expected more out of my overall #1 pick this season.

If anyone wants to see what I look like, I'll be in the front row in right field at the Reds-Indians game this Thursday. Expect all fly balls to be hit to left field.

I cheered him. He was cut. He loved the Tigers. I'm kinda pissed. He got booed. Also Verlander was dealing. But NL is basically AAAA

He showed up in a Wings sweater at the game last night (with Hurdle in tow).

Detroit can have Inge back if they want him.

Then again, basically all NL players are minor leaguers, so maybe they'll pass.

They could use him on their AAA team!

I remember last fall when the Tigers finished off the World Series in four games.

Despite all of the evidence to the contrary, we're not going to pretend that the AL isn't better than the NL, are we? That isn't to say that random NL Team X couldn't beat Random AL Team Y in a seven-game series, but nowhere did I imply that, did I?

(And it should be said that AAAA is unduly harsh...the NL is better than it has been in previous seasons.)

The PCL playoffs are coming to town (Salt Lake vs. Las Vegas) and the 51s are going all out to try and get butts in the stands. All three home playoff games will feature $1 beers (usually only on Thursdays). Should be a blast.

Just found out my first trip to Minute Maid will be Sunday, in a suite courtesy of the Houston Chronicle. This will be my little girl's first game that she will remember, even though I will never forget her pissing on me during the national anthem Opening Day 2012.

Heading to San Diego this weekend for the Tigers three-game series with the Padres. Thanks to some connections, will be sitting with the Tigers wives and families for Friday's game (then back up to "normal" Toyota Terrace seats for Saturday and Sunday.)

You're calling Kate Upton just "some connections?" Maybe that's true in Vegas. Back here she's kind of a big deal.

That was way harder than i was expecting. Missed/foul tipped 8 of first 9 or ten. Then started making contact. Only hit 4-5 that were solid base knocks, most were shallow fly balls. Furthest hit was probably 220 foot fly ball. Best hit was a line drive straight into the pitcher's fence. That one was a hard single, but I woulda streched it into two with my speed.

I liked shagging fly balls as much as anything. I never played center field before. Put me in coach!

And one other thing...I have a new appreciation for the arms of professionals. Just from 3rd to first is a big throw.

Very cool. The shitty local batting cage is terrifying if you're rusty, so making any contact at all in that environment is kind of impressive

I was a huge baseball kid growing up and loved it out there. Never got to play it in games until my last inning of my last little league game when the coach gave me the option and I threw some motherfucker out at the plate. I always assumed I was the only idiot in the world who would rather be in the OF than IF.

(Also, I'm betting the next frame of that shows a massive back-side collapse given that its already starting. We need to work on that.)
