As EnochRoot stated they did more back in the day, now if they do at all it's so Fishman (the drummer) to sing and Trey (the guitarist) (who was the drummer in the original formation of the band) switch. They don't do any of that cool stuff anymore.

The Dead only did it once that I know of, an April Fools thing that wasn't good.

If you're still around through all that, I'd go to the newer stuff which is all good, but can be hit or miss, depending on the song.
You Were Right is fantastic (love the callback lyrics), but Else is amazing. It's such a Doug Martsch love song.

Let me know if one of those are taken. I didn't see them in a quick scroll on my phone.

I wouldn't say it's the best hip-hop artist or album still out there, but few get the party jumping faster.

And IIRC, a thread about its biggest hit made people realize Jhonny was white.

More noise this round, and dare I say, a pick before the commish changed the thread title. Making my swamp draft pie smaller since mid March.

I thought about going with the album before this, In/Casino/Out, but this one is probably a little bit better.

I gave Double Fantasy a fair listen before picking a Harrison solo album earlier, and the Yoko half of that album... woof.

I think you made the right choice at the time with All Things Must Pass.

Personally, I was about to go with a Lennon effort. Toss up between Shaved Fish and Imagine...

Fucking aural assault from the stacks. Richard Lloyd (Television) Robert Quine (Lou Reed, Voidods) and Lloyd Cole.

I freakin loved this disc in college. His whole discography really up through Blue Sky, really. Dark horse to this one would've been Altered Beast.

According to Wikipedia, she was asked permission for the pic, and her approval was granted upon the condition they change the LP title from 'Nothing Lasts'.

It wound up being "Girlfriend"...Wasn't there an alt-take called "Goodfriend"?

I know Super Deformed played into Altered Beast. Holy crap what a fun rabbit hole.

Glad you approve. I like Altered Beast a lot, but Girlfriend is just one of those records that brings back memories for me that make me smile. Solid from the first track to the last.

Over the years I've probably spent a car payment on Matthew Sweet into the jukebox.

The track 'Girlfriend' is actually ripe to be covered. Dunno why but...Yeah. Call it..Divine inter (oh shut up)...(o;

I would be waiting until atleast the next round if not for the stupid "Companion" thread mentioning this dude for the first time here in 2 years. I almost never listen to this album alone without either following or shuffling it with Day I Forgot, but "Murray" is the best song on either and this is stronger overall ...

Image

(I have no doubt I'm going to lose my projected pick here and throw a tantrum. Thanks Rass!)

Shouldn't have sat on Smith and/or Buckley such that they got picked within a few picks of each other and reminded me of that pre-song intro that I posted.

Shit. I honestly thought this was off the board. I'm trying to figure out why and I think I somehow conflated this with Sugar's Copper Blue album... I have a very weird brain.

Pretty much just favorite album picks from here on out.

I love this band. I love all their albums (maybe except Evermotion, that was a strange last gasp) but I've bounced around and listened to a lot of them and I think this is my favorite.

Post by Nonlinear FC »

I've moved so far away from rap and hip-hop that sometimes I forget I grew up listening to the Electrifying Mojo on WAAM (later the much larger Detroit station), listening to Kraftwerk and a whole host of groups that shaped my early years.

This album is another in my cabin that was hugely influential, but flies under the radar for many folks. Powerful and also a bit tragic in terms of what happened to one of the leaders of the group after the album was released. NLFC is proud to add this album to its stable:
