They were going to be gone by Rd10 from me. Love this album, never been to a live show. (My BIL is a huge fan, I just can't get into the jam band live scene.) But I really got into them for awhile. To the point that Vida Blue's eponymous album was in heavy rotation for a couple of months.
Go! While they tend to play too many 3.0 songs for my taste nowadays, the scene is older (like they, and we, are) but the scene is still fun. Go tailgate, get a beer buzz, people watch, dance, have a good time.

For whatever it's worth, the album I'm shocked wasn't taken already a couple of weeks ago is still on the board, though looking at the lineup of drafters there's probably only one or two of you who would even think to take it.

There are at least 5 that just going by "all time" lists and/or how popular the group is/was, I'm pretty surprised are still up for consideration.

One of them I almost took this round, but I had to stick to what I want in the cabin rather than what looked good on paper.

Echoed. It's basically become the scene Deadheads wish the Grateful Dead were able to end with in the 90s. I don't mean to say one scene was better than the other, except to say that Phish actually had two extended hiatuses that most definitely shook barnacles off the hull, where the GD were just too damn big (mouthes to feed) to ever let a hiatus happen. I mean, other than Jerry having to check himself into a clinic, that is..

Maybe we'll go until 12 or it slows and then do a one-per-day free for all for the people still interested.

Need a little more sax (love the the first two tracks) in the cabin, and some jazz/rock flute. Plus, remember that time much younger rass listened to the title track after he learned what it was really about. That was..that was cool.

Great choice, I may have gone with Low Spark, but there is no loser in this debate. I guess that pulls Steve Winwood off the board?

One weekend - a long, long time ago - SRV was in Toronto to open for Dire Straits at Varsity Arena (capacity around 4,000!). The night before the show, he came on stage to play a couple of tunes with Albert Collins at a blues bar (named "Albert's Hall" coincidentally). Heads were exploding all over the place.

And while Dire Straits was a great band, they kinda sucked in concert - at least the night we saw them. SRV blew them away.

I saw him co headline with Jeff Beck (so overrated) a million years ago in DC. I can't believe Beck even tried to take the stage. There wasn't much stage to take after SRV and Double Trouble finished. That whole band was so tight.

Funny. A good friend of my who used to be a lead guitarist in a band told me of seeing Beck and SRV together. He said the majority of the audience was obviously young guitar players who were air guitaring and orgasming in unison all night.

From my brief sample size, it seems like guitarists like Beck. That night he was playing some music that didn't really mesh with what SRV played earlier. He had a frenzied audience that just got blown away by SRV and he killed the energy in the room. I think it was Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop that was on stage.

Out from the shadow of Bob Dylan and into the great wide open:

Image

The Band’s second release, The Band. I debated whether to go with Music from Big Pink (because, well ‘The Weight’), but top to bottom, this is the one with more meat on it. It’s arguably the soundtrack to flyover country.

They’re North America’s Kinks, in my opinion...
