Why didn't I take Dykstra first in the baseball draft? Because I have fucking INTEGRITY.

This draft is a lot less quantifiable, and I think no one would have been shocked if you had gone with The National super early and therefore probably not mocked you (and least not in any stronger terms than Shirley's recent "hispter" comment).

Any of the three original releases can go in this pick, so I went with the original, the one that introduced the world to the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Hard to argue with this track list.

"Purple Haze"
"Manic Depression"
"Hey Joe"
"Love or Confusion"
"May This Be Love"
"I Don't Live Today"

Side two

"The Wind Cries Mary"
"Fire"
"Third Stone from the Sun"
"Foxy Lady"
"Are You Experienced?"

So even though I came to it about 8 years late, this is my best combination of personal love, overall acclaim and won't be here in the next round considerations ...

Image

- I badly want to circumvent my own rules and pick the 20th anniversary re-release to get "Lift" added on but I'll play it straight.

- At what point does a certain band equal Aaron Rodgers here?

HOTH is objectively not LZ's 5th or 6th best album.

There goes one of my 3 remaining hopes for my second pick. I would've gone In Rainbows, (or maybe The Bends), but I can't argue with picking this one.

So like 7 out of 9 then?

Personally, I think of it in the 4/5 range. Some ranking done for nostalgic reasons.

Don't be offended -I would call the top 4 "Absolute Classics" the next 3 as "Great albums" and the last one as "better than all but a couple Stones albums."

Side two of IV is better than any side of the albums I ranked below it. Yeah, I'm with you on the overrated nature of Black Dog, Rock and Roll and certainly Stairway to Heaven...

Maybe I'd switch House of the Holy with IV, but that second side of IV could be their best side to an LP they ever did. I'm tempted to say side 3 of Physical Graffiti, but nah. I tend to think of Physical Graffiti as a whole four sided effort.*

*My rankings definitely reflect radio-overplay fatigue from my youth in the late 70s until the hair bands pushed Zeppelin off the radio by the mid 80s.

I am getting nervous that my hopeful 1st rounder will still be there. Radiohead going hurts the most, but they were never failing to 16. And it would have been The Bends for me followed by OK Computer.

Aw, my junior year of college, every week night at around 10:30, we'd smoke a joint, have a glass of JW Black, and play a game of Trivial Pursuit whilst listening to the White Album.

Also, Rocky Raccoon is one of my best 5 or 6 songs on the piano.

Damn SC. I didn’t really think they would fall to me, but I did have a draft strategy for the first two rounds built around the possibility they would.

I guess I need another one.

Summer '82. Saw it around the time it came out with the only guy who was old enough to drive me and my friends to see it (we were 12 at the time).

I had all the Zeppelin cassettes by that time, and wondered if the director was trolling us.*

*I didn't think in the terms of 'trolling', because that hadn't entered my (or, I think anybody's) vocabulary at that point in time.
