Alright Frogs and Oats, we now have a site for our league up and running:

Swamp Baseball League
Burlington Sports Frogs Home
Holland Oats Home

You can browse through the site to view league news, stats, standings, team rosters, etc. All the current-year stuff has zeroes since the season hasn't started yet, but you can still see last year's stats on your profiles.

What I'm going to do for the new season is instead of the posts with embedded images like before, post shorter summaries each week, with quick links to the updated stats, etc.

You'll be a starter. I ran the auto-manager to add a few spare players for spring training and it must have re-set the staff roles. Don't worry, you'll be in the rotation and Alex Valverde will have to eat shit.

Will pitchers' batting stats appear at some point?

OK, go to your player page here, then under Career Pitching Stats click the link for 2017 Burlington - SBL, and that will take you to all stats from last year including pitchers' hitting. I'll have to see how it tracks those things for the current season once it starts.

Making the final preparations and then will run Spring Training to post the end of this week.

Editing the schedule is tricky, but I will try to get it set up so that the Frogs and Oats play each other a few times during the season.

SPRING TRAINING UPDATE

Quick recap of spring training while prepping for the start of the regular season next week...

The Burlington Sports Frogs and Holland Oats each "won" their divisions during spring with records of 17-11 and 18-10 respectively, for what it's worth. Spring Training stats are kind of a mess, with the spare players mixed in to fill out the rosters, so I'll just call out a few notably good/bad performances:
  • HOT:
    wlu_lax: .463 BA, 7 HR in 54 AB
    P.D.X.: .369, 4 HR in 65 AB
    howard: 3-0, 1.69 ERA in 24 IP
    govmentchedda: 3-1, 1.80 ERA in 20 IP
  • NOT:
Ryan: .172 BA, 0 HR in 64 AB
    BSF21: .143, 2 HR in 70 AB
    Sabo: 2-1, 8.02 ERA in 21 IP

Burlington
kicks off the season next week with a road series at old division rivals the Utica Clubs, then a home series vs. the Wilmington Creditors.

Holland kicks off their inaugural campaign with two road series against divisional foes: first at the Rockford Files, then at the Kalamazoo Meat Gayzers.

WEEK 1 UPDATE

The Burlington Sports Frogs stumbled out of the gate in their championship defense, dropping two of three both to Utica and Wilmington to end the first week of the season at 2-4. Their pitching was the main culprit, racking up a team ERA of 7.57.
  • This Week: 2-4
    Season: 2-4 (4th in Div.)
Next Week: at Danbury (3 gms.), at Middlesex (3 gms.)

The Holland Oats got off to a rough start as well, splitting two games with Rockford (the third was rained out), before dropping two of three to Kalamazoo to end the week at 2-3. Their pitching generally held up well, but they were plagued by poor performance at the plate, batting just .228 as a team.
  • This Week: 2-3
    Season: 2-3 (4th in Div.)
Next Week: vs. Duluth (3 games), vs. Parma (3 games)

NEWS AND NOTES

- Holy shit, Ryan actually hit a home run! Wilmington pitcher Mark Walters will be the laughingstock of the league for a while.

- In typical fashion, Bronto made it just a few games into the season before coming down with his first injury, a mild oblique strain—however, he was fine by the next game. Sorry, BFJ.

- duff missed the Oats' first series with biceps tendinitis, but returned to hit .429 with a homer in his first 3 games.

- Kind of an oversight on my part—to start the season, I had set the rosters with just 5 pitchers in the bullpens. I know now that's too few, so I'm going to swap in a pitcher in place of a position player for each team for next week. SpongeLikeNinja and devilfluff will join Burlington and Holland, respectively, with kranepool and cerrano heading down to the minors for now.

- Similar to the above, as the need arises to promote new players to the roster for injuries, etc., I'll "convert" random minor leaguers to various Swampers present and past.

That was my fault for letting you pitch into the 7th when you clearly weren't getting the job done.

You should be OK for your next start, though.
