I doubt Jhonny is getting to hit, so if I’m facing Rams Fanny, a heater will be going at his 6th rib pair. Because I met him a couple months back with Brian in Vegas, and both of them seem like good guys.

WEEK 17 UPDATE

First up, the news you're all waiting for: the Sports Frogs and the Oats split their first ever head-to-head series, 2-2. We'll have to wait for the next series (probably in September) to see if one team can claim undisputed bragging rights.

Per your requests, there were several beanings in the series, but none led to all-out brawls, since after all we're all good friends who would never let our emotions boil over.
- degenerasian hit Pruitt
- L-Jam hit Rams Fanny
- DSafetyGuy hit Jerloma
- TT2.0 hit mister d

Recaps are below as usual, but here are the quick links to the box scores:
- Game 1: Holland 2, Burlington 1
- Game 2 - Burlington 5, Holland 4
- Game 3 - Holland 8, Burlington 4
- Game 4 - Burlington 11, Holland 5

Image Burlington Sports Frogs
After splitting the series with the Oats, the Sports Frogs dropped three straight against Danbury, but retain a slim two-game lead over Middlesex for the division lead. Next week they'll host a pair of Canadian teams, first conference-best Ajax, then their less-impressive countrymen from Rimouski.

- This Week: 2-5
- Season: 67-39 (1st in Div)
- League Power Ranking: 6th
- Next Week: vs. Ajax (3 games), vs. Rimouski (3 games)

Image Holland Oats
The Oats followed their split with Burlington with a sweep of Nassau to reclaim the division lead, with help from a slump by Parma. Next week will start off with what should be an easy series against the bottom-dwelling Meat Gayzers, and then a somewhat more challenging one vs. Dundalk.

- This Week: 5-2
- Season: 57-46 (1st in Div)
- League Power Ranking: 8th
- Next Week: vs. Kalamazoo (3 games), vs. Dundalk (3 games)

NEWS AND NOTES:

- duff was raking it this past week, with three homers in the Burlington series, followed by another one vs. Nassau. He now has 19 on the year, trailing only Gunpowder among Swamp players.

- Also on fire (in a relative sense) has been Ryan, who had a three-double game and raised his average to .243, also improving his WAR for the year to 0.0.

- Injury news (sort of): DSafetyGuy came down with a stomach virus and will be day-to-day for 5 days. Wonder if Jerloma was seen anywhere near his food during the recent series.

- As in real life, the trade deadline is July 31. Unless we want to straight-up trade some Swampers for one another, I plan to have both our teams stand pat.

WEEK 18 UPDATE

Image Burlington Sports Frogs
The Frogs continued to stumble following the All-Star break, extending their losing streak to an uncharacteristic 6 games at one point before righting the ship somewhat by taking two of three from Rimouski. In the meantime Middlesex kept up the chase, cutting the division lead to just a half game. Next week brings an inter-conference road trip along the West Coast, with a short two-game series against last year's World Series opponents Oxnard, followed by a three-game set in Yakima.

- This Week: 2-4
- Season: 69-43 (1st in Div)
- League Power Ranking: 6th
- Next Week: at Oxnard (2 games), at Yakima (3 games)

Image Holland Oats
The Oats continued their strong post-break streak, winning 7 of 8 before dropping the last two games of their series vs. Dundalk. They continue to face stiff competition from Parma, with their lead at just a game and a half. Next game brings a couple of road series against middle-of-the pack teams: a three-game set at Nassau followed by one at Duluth.

- This Week: 4-3
- Season: 61-49 (1st in Div)
- League Power Ranking: 11th
- Next Week: at Nassau (3 games), at Duluth (3 games)

NEWS AND NOTES:

- Injury: P.D.X. strained his shoulder making a throw and was placed on the 10-day DL. To fill the roster spot a new player was promoted from AAA: hotshot infield prospect MaxWebster.

- Injury: BSF21 suffered an oblique strain making a play in the field and missed 5 days, giving Nonlinear FC the chance to get in a few starts.

- Injury: DSafetyGuy, fresh off a stomach virus, left his last start with a herniated disc in his neck and will be out for about 10 days. HaulCitgo will slide into the starting rotation in the meantime. SpongeLikeNinja gets another call up from AAA and will hopefully not be the disaster he was last time.

- Speaking of DSafe, his recent run of events made the league news:

Jack Morris was supposedly a real prick, but during his tenure with the Jays, I met him (and some other players) in their hotel in Cleveland. He was really nice to the fans and signed a ton of autographs.

WEEK 19 UPDATE

Image Burlington Sports Frogs
In a short week, the Sports Frogs were unable to completely emerge from their post-All Star funk, and have now fallen into a tie with Middlesex for the division lead. Next week they finish their West Coast road trip with a three-game series at Pacific division contenders Boise, then back home to host a last-place Carson City team.

- This Week: 2-3
- Season: 71-46 (T-1st in Div)
- League Power Ranking: 8th
- Next Week: at Boise (3 games), vs. Carson City (3 games)

Image Holland Oats
The Oats continued to play well, extending their lead over Parma to 2.5 games, and for the first time, surpassed Burlington in the league power rankings! Next weeks brings a series at Newark ollowed by a homestand against Yakima.

- This Week: 4-2
- Season: 65-51 (1st in Div)
- League Power Ranking: 7th
- Next Week: at Newark (3 games), vs. Yakima (3 games)

NEWS AND NOTES:

- Injury: Continuing a revolving door of injuries on the Oats, sancarlos is headed to the 10-day DL with biceps tendinitis. Newly-promoted rookie MaxWebster will get a chance to prove his mettle at short.

- P.D.X. has returned from his injury, with DSafetyGuy coming back later this week.

- duff has been getting it done in the middle of the Holland lineup, with 14 HRs since the beginning of July, and now sits fifth in the league in RBI.

- BSF21 has been having a prolific year on the basepaths, with 36 steals, but is still a far cry from the league leader: rookie sensation Chris "Last Resort" Funk of Fort Myers, who has swiped an amazing 71 bases in 75 attempts so far. Funk also makes the top 5 in "ugliest motherfuckers I have ever seen in this game."

WEEK 20 UPDATE

Image Burlington Sports Frogs
With a 4-2 week, the Sports Frogs managed to right the ship somewhat after a rough few weeks, though they remain a half-game behind Middlesex for the division lead. Next week brings a pair of home series, first vs. Utica (We're overdue for a "fuck Utica," aren't we?), followed by another vs. Regina.

- This Week: 4-2
- Season: 75-48 (2nd in Div)
- League Power Ranking: 5th
- Next Week: vs. Utica (3 games), vs. Regina (3 games)

Image Holland Oats
The Oats continued their hot August, going 5-1 for the week and being just a Johnnie blown save from a nine-game winning streak. (Thanks Johnnie!) Next week brings a full slate of games, first with four games vs. Fresno, then three vs. Carson City.

- This Week: 5-1
- Season: 70-52 (1st in Div)
- League Power Ranking: 6th
- Next Week: vs. Fresno (4 games), vs. Carson City (3 games)

NEWS AND NOTES:

- Injury: Rush2112 left his last start with shoulder inflammation and has been placed on the 10-day DL. In his absence, we'll give steve another shot at the rotation or maybe go to a temporary 4-man setup if he can't cut it.

- DSafetyGuy (but not his skeevy Jack Morris mustache) has returned from the DL.

- I forgot to share our team owners' mid-season reviews from a few weeks back:
Burlington owner John Pagel wrote: Winning sure feels good and you have been doing a lot of it during the first half of the year. Don't stop now! Get the guys to keep it up, so we can really be considered one of the top teams in the league.

Well done finding an improvement at Center Field. I know it wasn't that easy of a task, but EnochRoot looks like he'll be a great player for us. Let's hope his on-field performance can live up to his hype.

During our time working together, I have been ecstatic with your progress towards the goals I have set out for you. I feel similarly about your handling of the team's on-field and front office management.
Holland owner Guillermo Davila wrote: I know I said you didn't have to hit the postseason this year but if you push the team a bit harder during the latter part of the year, maybe we can eke our way in. Once we get in, we have as good a chance as anyone. Do your best to get it done.

Well done finding an improvement at Center Field. I know it wasn't that easy of a task, but BSF21 looks like he'll be a great player for us. Let's hope his on-field performance can live up to his hype.

I can't be upset with a team that's 5th in On-Base PCT. I hope that the team can keep up this pace the rest of the season.

Do you remember me telling you to get howard signed to an extension? It's not too late to get going on that. The earlier we lock him up the better it will be.

Attendance is increasing. That's always a good sign. Keep looking at more ways to get fans to the ballpark and I still have faith that you'll complete this goal on time.

During our time working together, I have been ecstatic with your progress towards the goals I have set out for you. That being said, when I look at the team's history on and off the field, my overall impression doesn't rank quite as highly.

Bronto has surprisingly managed not to get injured every other week this year, but based on his performance drop-offs I might give you a few starts.
