Burlington Breaks Through for First Win in League Championship Series; Now Trails 3-1
The Burlington Sports Frogs have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Middlesex Offenders, winning 3-2 at Green Mountain Grounds today. Sports Frogs right-hander Sabo was named player of the game after he threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Sports Frogs to 3-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the bottom of the second inning. That's when center fielder EnochRoot drew a walk. The Sports Frogs went on to win.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Sabo told the Burlington Daily.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Green Mountain Grounds in Burlington. The scheduled starters for the game are Dobbe Hendriks for the Middlesex Offenders and govmentchedda for the the Burlington Sports Frogs.

HOLLAND vs. CORPUS CHRISTI - CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES GAME 4

Thompson, Brinkleys Wallop Oats in Game 4 of CS
Corpus Christi shortstop Brendan Thompson produced all the offense the Brinkleys would need today in the club's 6-1 win over the Holland Oats.

Thompson went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice and was named player of the game, while Corpus Christi moved into a tie in the League Championship Series. The Brinkleys and Oats are now even at 2-2 in the best-of-7 series.

Mike Lindmark, who signed a 6-year contract worth $28,880,000 on 12/13/2017, aided the Corpus Christi cause with a 2-run double in the top of the sixth. For the game, the center fielder was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Lindmark told the Corpus Christi Chronicle.

Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Spring Brook Supply Field in Holland. Slated to start are Rory Strachan for Corpus Christi and degenerasian for Holland.

Yeah, I didn't get that either. Something weird was up with the recap generator logic there. The bases weren't loaded, so the walk didn't force in a run, and that inning ended up being scoreless.

Offenders on to World Series
The Middlesex Offenders have advanced to the World Series, but know the toughest challenges still lie ahead.

"Our work is just beginning. It's not going to get any easier from here on in," said Dobbe Hendriks, who earned MVP honors in the League Championship Series.

The Burlington Sports Frogs were eliminated 4-1, with the final game being a 7-3 victory for Middlesex at Green Mountain Grounds.

For the series, Hendriks had a 0.56 ERA, with 12 strikeouts over 16 innings pitched. He also had a 2-0 record.

The Middlesex Offenders don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Corpus Christi Brinkleys - Holland Oats series. Corpus Christi leads the series 3 games to 2. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.

Corpus Christi Wins Game 5 in Extras; On Verge of WS
An all-important Game 5 of the League Championship Series went into extra innings at Spring Brook Supply Field, with the Corpus Christi Brinkleys eventually emerging on top. Corpus Christi has Mike Miller to thank, after the first baseman went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once in the 6-5 victory. The Brinkleys are now one game away from the World Series, holding a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Carlos Regueiro aided the Corpus Christi cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth. For the game, the catcher went 3-4 with 3 singles.

"This game tested our mettle," said Regueiro.

Slated to start Game 6 are Rush2112 for the Holland Oats and Jimmy Floyd for the the Corpus Christi Brinkleys.

I'd honestly been worried that your fortuitous playoff run last year might have "spoiled" you guys into thinking another championship was guaranteed. I hope you can content yourselves with another good showing and some impressive individual performances.

Hard to cheer for Holland when you are already playing 36 a day for the forth coming senior tour simulation game that Johnny Carwash moves onto.

I'm a little bummed out, but we can't be too greedy. We won last year, after all. I'm going to take a few weeks off, let my body heal, perhaps work on my rock opera about Henry Darger, then jump back into training and come back stronger than ever. Either that, or I'll die in a tragic offseason climbing accident.

Oh, and fuck Holland.

Nah, we're still friendly. We have to be. If nothing else, we would be seeing each other whenever Burlington brings everybody back for anniversary celebrations. But we'll be working together at autograph signings, store openings, NJPW, wherever. There's easy money to be made once you win a championship, even for suboptimal middle infielders.

Brinkleys Advance to World Series
The Corpus Christi Brinkleys are one step closer to a World Series title.

The club prevailed 2-1 at Selena Field tonight to eliminate the Holland Oats and advance to the World Series.

The Brinkleys won the series by a 4-2 margin, with first baseman and series MVP Mike Miller leading the way.

"I'm proud of all the guys," Miller said. "This was a team effort, not just me."

The Corpus Christi Brinkleys will play against the Middlesex Offenders in the next round. Middlesex won their series against the Burlington Sports Frogs 4 games to 1.

Man, did I choke in the playoffs.

Where did our bats go? Fuck Christie Brinkley.

Christie Brinkley ravages the life of more middle aged white men. Figures.

So unfortunately the Oats come up short in the conference championships as well, but at least they can take pride in having built a playoff team essentially from scratch. And as far as bragging rights go, they did make it one game farther than Burlington.

So here's how things played out...

The Corpus Christi Brinkleys defeated the Middlesex Offenders, 4 games to 1, to win the 2018 Swamp World Series. This caps a stellar year for the Brinkleys, who put up the league's best regular-season record. The Burlington Sports Frogs and Holland Oats put up valiant efforts before falling in the conference championship round, but both teams' futures remain bright...or do they?



Other Business:

- All pending Swamper free agents have now been successfully re-signed to their respective teams. Even fucking Jerloma, who took his sweet time responding and rejected multiple offers along the way. I know the whole drama last year about who to re-sign was fun, but there was no really practical way to handle it with two teams, so I simplified things this year. If you guys really, really, want to, we can maybe see if there's a way to do an off-season trade or two.

- League awards like MVP, Cy Young, Gold Gloves, etc. will be announced shortly after I take care of some other in-game business.

- The Unknown Award for our team MVP is back, now with one for each of our teams. First up is Burlington, with a shortlist of candidates put up for the poll above. Once we get a fair amount of votes, I'll post the candidates for Holland's award. If you don't see your name on the shortlist, don't take it personally, you just suck.
