They May Ban Racing at Santa Anita

Two things..

Statement from the Stronach Group which owns Santa Anita and other major tracks:

“The fact that horses running in America are five times more likely to suffer a catastrophic injury than horses running in international venues is unacceptable and must immediately change.”

North American horses are pharmaceutical experiments more than mammals. Trainers have been pumping these beasts full of god knows what for decades and decades.

And 2: Check out the crowd for The Santa Anita Derby last week. This is pretty much the biggest race on the west coast (when the Breeders isn't run there).



I used to love horse racing - but no lessons have been learned by the people who run it in North America.

4 years for drugging horses. The Lance Armstrong case was such bigger news. For non-major sports it is interesting to compare considering both were big US DOJ type cases.
