Any list with Miami last is off to a good start.

Don't forget Phoenix. Only slightly ahead of Miami.

Seems like Ovi's entire offseason workout plan is to carry the Cup around while drinking.

Every player will get one day with Ovi and the cup.

Classy, on both accounts. There's been a lot to enjoy about this, even if Tom Wilson is a shit, and the 1-1-3 is trash, and my team failed to close you guys out only a few weeks ago.

I guess it's unfair to play Monday morning quarterback (to mix sports metaphors), but I remember a couple years ago, reading that the St. Louis Blues "won" the trade where they sent T.J. Oshie to the Capitals for Troy Brouwer and a bag of pucks. The same T.J. Oshie who was a key cog in the Stanley Cup Capitals' engine, and the same Troy Brouwer who spent a couple years in St. Louis, and then went to Calgary via free agency, and then did so poorly there that he now is rumored to be a buyout candidate.

Looks pretty good for Washington, now.

I posted and deleted a reply right after because I whiffed on it the first time I read it.

I LOVED that trade for Washington, as I'd been a big admirer of Oshie AND Troy really didn't do much with his time in Washington. Just not a great fit, for whatever reason.

Took 4 years to pay off, but hoo boy...

I think I mocked St. Louis for the trade then laughed about the idea of St. Louis winning a Cup and crediting Brouwer's toughness as the difference then mocked Washington for the extension. I didn't nail that one.

Well, I now longer have a source for Red Wings news. That's what I'm really upset about. They must have folded or something. Cause evidently they no longer exist.
Hey, Rush, I posted some thoughts on the Red Wings in the NHL offseason thread. I waited until after the draft because they're not a top free agent destination any more (even for just offseason rumors before free agency opens), so it seemed like after the draft would be the best time to post. Just bumping this thread to help make sure you see it.

Brouwer has indeed been bought out. Glad the Flames are admitting their mistake and turning the page.

I know he was wielding his no trade protection but that return seems soft for Skinner, right?

(He’s a weird player, the kind you don’t want going to a rival but also really don’t want going to your team.)

I’m not any expert on him, and his numbers say he’s a fine sniper, but maybe also a guy who is often injured and doesn’t play much defense. If Carolina was determined to trade him they should’ve done so at the deadline.
“nbc” wrote:Skinner had a no-move clause in his contract, so the return was likely muted by that, but the return is hardly impressive. You can’t let Skinner walk for free after next season — he’s scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent — but one might wonder what the return would have been at the trade deadline. The Nashville Predators gave up a first-round pick for Ryan Hartman, remember?

Right, and that’s all fair because he’s had concussion issues and he’s worth zero if that happens again. But still?
