I'd like him to not be out because then Pep would have to infect the brain of a new manager.

Also my prediction is a lot more goals allowed by City this season. They seem susceptible to age and/or depth at CB and defensive mid.

I'd imagine post WC seasons are a bit unpredictable.

Checking out the futures and thinking I might want to find a book here because I don't see why Liverpool isn't right around co-favorites. The City/Liverpool +400 and Liverpool/City +700 looks like a good one to balance each side of the bet on. Also, the odds to finish top 6 are great, #6 is -500 and #7 is +650.

+3,300 on Liverpool to win and Aubameyang as top goal scorer looks cool too.

Man, that gap in projected points and odds to win from 6th place to 7th!

It's good to be a big club.

I really like both Leicester +1 +115 AND +350 DRAW in the opening match vs. Man U on 8/10.

And I'm all over Liverpool to win the PL at +450.

A season-long pool similar to Degen's World Cup Pool? Just sayin'

In as well.

I had no idea Xherdan Shaqiri signed with Liverpool. He just scored a hell of a goal against Man U in this ICC friendly.

If Liverpool signs Pulisic (which might happen, as he reportedly has stopped contract negotiations with Dortmund), then I might have to start rooting for Liverpool.

You really don't want Pulisic on Liverpool yet. You also don't want him going elsewhere.

My City cred, which is near zero to begin with, took another hit when I met the son-in-law and grandson of Dave Watson this weekend and blank stared back. Someone with perspective, give me the Yankee equivalent here. Graig Nettles? Willie Randolph?

I will set something up later this week or early next.

Rules?

$1000 swamp bucks
Can make any 3 pre-season (outright) bets (win league, top 4, top 6, top goalscorer, under/over etc...) before August 11.
Can make 1 bet per week (matchday). Postponed or makeup games will not be available for wagering.
In the middle of every month, can make 1 additional outright bet.
my odds will come from bet365.com but if you can find a better one, we'll go with that.

How's that sound?

I'm just going to assume I'm the only Wolves fan here. Been since '12 that the team was in EPL and quickly suffered successive relegations (there's hope Blackpool, though not with your current owners). Unlike most promoted teams, seems most pundits and bookies think this team will finish mid-table (currently ninth highest at William hill in town). There's plenty of room on the bandwagon but before you join, be aware there's some nefarious stuff afoot in Molineux

I've really warmed to the Total Soccer Podcast (a Yank and a Brit, based in Richmond, VA). It's probably the most well rounded of the soccer pods that I listen to. Men in Blazers' schtick is wearing thin on me, as is Football Ramble. On the Continent (by two of the Football Ramble guys and two other soccer journalists - about non-EPL European leagues) is good, and less chummy, backslappy than Football Ramble. I really like the Spanish Football Podcast (about La Liga, co-hosted by Sid Lowe from the Guardian). Double Pivot is SABRmetrics for soccer with two nerds, one of whom stutters (which can be a challenging listen). The stutterer is also a bible scholar and grassroots democratic party organizer in Brooklyn. If you can get past everything that goes along with that, it's an entertaining listen. The Big Interview with Graham Hunter (Scotsman now based in Barcelona) is more like long form interviews with ex players, managers, etc.

Wolves sound sleazy as hell. Which means they should be staying up for years to come.

I started following English soccer when I was a kid, and the name "Wolves" has a certain amount of magic associated with it. One of the teams that seems like they belong in the top tier. Mind you, this is based on a feeling of nostalgia. In my retro mind, Coventry and Leeds also belong in the upper reaches as do Ipswich and Norwich.

As for soccer podcasts, I listen to three - The Guardian's Football (twice) Weekly is still my favourite. It slipped a bit when James Richardson left, but the rotating cast of writers keep it interesting. Sometimes I'll listen to James Richardson's Totally Football, but the shows are so similar that there's no need to double up.

The Spurs Show is a regular listen for me as well. Although to be honest, it isn;t as much fun when the team is doing well.

I've started to listen to 3 as well...
-Men In Blazers (sure, they are shtick-ey, but they still make me laugh)
-Guardian's Football Weekly
-Totally Football

Hey, it may seem like overkill, but I did win the World Cup pool I was entered in, so I must have gotten some knowledge out of it.

Love that guy. Sounds like he's exhaling smoke whilst sipping his third pint.

I once sent him an e-mail telling him how much I enjoyed his work (writing in the Guardian and on the podcast). He answered back like 20 minutes later.

(By the way, was that post typed while you were driving over potholes? The heat in Calgary must be getting to you!)
