Le 2018 Ryder Cup

Seems like Furyk could take 9-12 from the
points list and nobody would complain, so that's my prediction. Tiger (duh), Phil (you try being the guy to pick Tony Finau over him), Bryson (meh) and Xander (I like it).
The European qualifying process is beyond my ken, but I assume they will have all those guys who killed it this weekend along with Rose and Poulter so yay.

Me too. Like literally, in the physical sense. I guess there are a couple of weeks left for someone to grab one of the last 2 spots.

Man. Phil's only had one top ten since MArch. Wasn't a factor in any of the majors. I just don't think he deserves to be on the team. But I don't disagree with you, either.

I go the opposite. Phil's experience would matter more away than at home. Nothing going to surprise him.

You need Phil because who else is going to dish out good quotes in the loser's press conference on Sunday.
More seriously, having Phil on the team takes some of the pressure off the younger guys in an away Ryder Cup, and that probably outweighs the issues with his form.

I think there's a tendency to overthink anything beyond "put the best 12 American golfers at the time the extra four are picked out there". I don't care how young some of these kids are, they could kick Mickelson's ass up and down the course and have been for the last nine months.

MIckelson has more value in foursomes where he can just go crazy looking for birdies, but there are so many of the younger guys that do that, too. I get the sentimentality, but at some point they all phase out. But I'm guessing he makes team, then is the named next Captain shortly after this year's event.
Edit: NVM. The 2020 is in Wisconsin, so it will be Steve Stricker as that Captain.

Mickelson just teed off on a par five with an iron. And put it in the water. I really think Phil would have been better suited for four ball if he is only playing one session a day.

I know you shouldn't pay too much attention to the stroke scoring, but the Phil/Bryson team didn't do any worse than the others against par. In fact, it looks like they ended at +2 while the other teams ended at +3. Still, I don't trust those two at all, especially if they had to play 15-18.

That’s fair. They did calm down but their front nine was all over.
