I liked what I saw on hard knocks and preseason, but yeah, hope he can maintain something close to that level.

I think this is smart.
It's just media talk, coaches not revealing too much in the press conference.
Also, the next game isn't in 11 days, why name Mayfield the starter and have the media circus on him for a looooong week.

Even before last night, I was a lot higher on Mayfield than Darnold. I thought Darnold was vastly overrated as a prospect. He turned the ball over a ton at USC and I’d be highly skeptical of any QB who was already turnover prone playing against college defenses.

I was most excited by the fearlessness. I was on board with bringing him along slowly, but man Tyrod was conservative. That first quarter last night was tough to watch.

On the other hand I think Mayfield can handle the crushing demands of the <checks notes> Cleveland media market.

Not to mention the concussion protocol thing.

Just discovered on Facebook that I'm a distant relative of the guy who caught the possum at the Browns game last night. (He's my father's niece's nephew. I know shit-all about genealogy so no idea on what that is.)

If it’s your father’s niece, meaning she’s the daughter of your father’s sibling, she would be your first cousin. (First cousins share a common grandparent). Possum Guy would be her the son of one of her siblings. One of her siblings would be your cousin as well (unless of course there’s step or marriages, which any in the chain would negate this whole exercise if it shows up anywhere). If not, then Possom Guy is your first cousin, once-removed.

Lets just say this. Even if no marriage or step/half considerations, you could legally marry Possom Guy.

That half was played in Bizarro world.

The Bills are depleted in the secondary, starting Chris Ivory, scrubs at receiver and they are pummelling the Vikes. If it weren;t for a couple of drops, Allen would be over 200 yards for the half. Makes no sense.

And I don;t know what to do with myself.

I don't think officials try to affect outcomes of games. I believe in their integrity. That said, I've been shocked at the penalties called against Miami in today's game. The broadcasters, Greg Gumbel and Bruce Arians have been polite but have pointedly disagreed with calls repeatedly. Absent the calls, the Dolphins would likely be leading, but are losing at present.

ronde barber is as insufferable as randy cross used to be. barber started talking about a great play made by kareem jackson against the texans offense and gave some bio on jackson before he realized the giants d had made the defensive play and said “oops, wrong team”.

thank god for red zone

After Allen’s first rushing TD I jokingly texted my Bills fans friends that he was the best dual threat QB in the league. Then he hurdled a Pro Bowl caliber linebacker!

If you're talking about the high helmet to the shoulder this week then I agree but that's not what the ref called.
The league has stated that the fouls both this week and last were due to driving the QB into the ground.

Yep, Garopollollol out for the season trying to Jim Brown truck stick a defender down 14 late in the fourth quarter for some goddamned reason.

I thought it was a head or shoulder injury initially because he got destroyed when he tried to run that guy over. But upon seeing more replays it looks like it was a non-contact injury and that he tore his knee cutting back towards the defender before he got hit. Either way, it doesn’t happen if he just ran out of bounds.

Dak was pushed (not hit, pushed) up high after he threw the ball, did a pirouette, and rolled on the ground. He got up complaining for a flag and got it. Buck and Pereira were both annoyed about it.

What the hell did he think he was going to do? Run through 5 defenders like fuckin' Walter Payton or some shit?
