Interesting stats from last nights game (Ht: RussianMachineNeverBreaks)
The Bruins have not beat the Capitals since March 29 of 2014. That is now thirteen losses in a row.
Holtby did not have a regular season shutout last year nor did he register a point (and now has more points than the Bruins)
Caps goal by Nic Dowd was assisted by Nathan Walker (Dowd's hometown is Huntsville, AL and Walker is an Aussie). Not one you you see too frequently.
Also because of NHL unwritten rules or whatnot I did not have a problem with Marchand fighting Eller. But you have to take him straight up (not sucker punch) and you can't be the guy to stand up for excessive celebration when you have a reputation for licking people on the ice.

Fleury will NOT be in goal against Pittsburgh on Thursday if that was a thing anyone was looking forward to. It's the second night of a back to back and first night is against Washington.

Brian, any idea why TBL/VGK on Friday 10/26 is starting at 3 p.m. PDT?

Nevada Day. Schools, banks, government offices, etc. are all off that day.

It can be maddening how things go from game to game for a team. Yesterday the Sharks looked listless and got shut out 4-0 by the Islanders. Tonight in the first period alone, they put 23 shots on goal against Philadelphia. Scored four times and it could’ve been more. Is this the same team?

That's how it is. Doesnt help that the Sharks played at 10am yesterday.
This is a dumb banner. (I need to check the Googles to see if Florida has now taken down their dumb (even before 2017-18) "best expansion team ever" banner.)

Garbage, 3 banners for losing in the 2nd round.
That's why the Flames smoked them 3-0 last night.

I don’t mind the President’s Trophy and Division Title banners but come the hell on with the other one.

Yeah, being the regular season conference title winner is already covered by the President's Trophy banner.

and after the Flyers lose 8-2 to San Jose they turn around and lead Ottawa 6-3.
The Flames are on NBCSN tonight! for the first time ever(?), not counting playoffs.
So if you've never seen them before, here's your chance!

VGK extends Alex Tuch for 7 years, $33.5M. Looks like I won't have to buy a new jersey any time soon.

Jets are banking points, which confirms they have the elite talent, but their level of play has been way, way off. Been outplayed overall in almost every game so far and are getting by on goal scoring talent and a deadly power play. And the central division is of course as daunting as advertised. I think there depth should carry them through the middle of the season when all teams start racking up injuries, but right now either the motivation isn't there and/or other teams have game-planned against them.

Trav, from what I've seen so far, the Jets could be a power this season!
The Sharks have not looked polished yet at all, but last night was their best outing of the season, so that gives me hope. The goaltending hasn't been good, and the power play, which ought to be ferocious, hasn't been worth a shit - until last night, when they scored three PP goals and looked good doing it. I missed most of the game (see the Random Thoughts thread) but the highlights were nice.

Sharks so far seem like a team still trying to figure out roles and systems with Karlsson now, but will be super scary soon enough.
Only seen Carolina when they played the Jets last week but they gave off the same kind of vibe the Jets did last year - crazy fast, buzzing around the puck team that suddenly makes the leap. Don't like their owner but rooting for the team.

Went to the Canes Bolts preseason game, and watched Tuesday's game on TV. Somehow, that team is legit.

I feel like they're going to be good in spite of Brind'amour, not because of him, and my prediction is they just beat out the panthers for the final playoff spot.

Vegas having arguably the loudest arena in the NHL from basically day one was not a thing I expected. This thing is probably gonna look not so good for Vegas as a pro sports town eventually but for now even this is bonkers.

They were ALL OVER Chicago in that period. I think the Hawks only had 5 shots.
