He shouldn't. He somehow managed to make himself look like more of a clown with comments on Hard Knocks as well as during this season. He's just not a good enough leader to be a head coach.

That being said, I'd take him back on the Bengals as OC this afternoon.
What? Why? Bengals are averaging 27.6 ppg and are the best red zone offense by TD percentage and scoring percentage in the league.

Josh Gordon suspended for the first quarter tonight because of tardiness.

But he has a locker next to Brady! Why didn't Brady teach him to be more P L I A B L E.

Now I see why they are shopping for a 'premium' receiver.

Question...if there's a holding penalty on the offense, does it negate a grounding penalty on the quarterback?

I'm just sorry that Thurman Thomas had to sit through that game.

I think the defense gets to choose and would always choose grounding.

I guess there aren't too many prime time games in Buffalo, so how long have they had those heaters that turned the entire middle ring of the stadium red? I've never noticed that before.

Part of the big reno in 2013.

I am always fascinated by the idiocy of the signs that people bring to stadiums, and that includes the "d" and fence classics.

But the cake was taken in Orchard Park last night...

And yet, Gordon was on the field for the Pats' first offensive play, from some of the tweets I saw last night.

The KC game; the fourth quarter of the Carolina game; the 20 yards of offense through the first 25 minutes of the second half against Tampa Bay and the disappearing act during the first 22 minutes of the second half vs. Atlanta. Since the D is going to keep letting teams back into games the offense is going to have to be more consistent.

Miami basketball used to have a similar problem under Charlie Coles...start off well but then go through a 7 to 10 minute stretch (usually in the second half) where the offense wouldn't score a point. That gives opponents the opportunity to either get back in a game or put a game out of reach.

And bringing in Hue, who does not know what Lazor is running, and who just crapped out spectacularly in Cleveland, helps how? I mean, I firmly disagree with your idea.

I should clarify I was being hyperbolic about bringing Hue in yesterday. I don't think it makes sense to change things up mid season since the offense has been better compared to last year. I just think he's a damn good OC and should probably stick with that rest of his NFL coaching career. I would love to have him back in that role because I think he's a better OC than Lazor.

However, I would be fine bringing him in today as some sort of consultant if Lazor allowed it.

I think the fact that he crapped out in Cleveland just means he's a bad head coach. Which is fine...lots of great coordinators prove to be bad head coaches. Dick LeBeau, Bruce Coslet, Richie Petibon, Josh McDaniels...the list goes on and on. It's the Peter Principle in action.

I should also clarify that I was casting doubt on Jackson ever getting another Head Coaching job.

Wade Phillips is the textbook definition of a Quadruple-A Coordinator. How quickly he can change a run-of-the mill defense to a senseless fucking terror is staggering.

You know the baseball term of a Quadruple-A player? A guy who's too good to take up a spot in Triple-A, but not good enough for an everyday job in The Show. To borrow the term, a Quadruple-A coordinator is a guy who is a master at one level of coordination, and someone who should take that next step, but not good when given the full coach's job. Wade Phillips is the best example. Not a good coach by any stretch (maybe passable at best), but an amazing defensive coordinator.

my knowledge of the term is why I was confused

you called him a AAAA coordinator, not a AAAA coach or another less specific term. that's why I was confused. because, as you said, he thrives at the top level of football

and it may not even be an accurate description to call him a AAAA football coach anyway. He's 82-64 as a head coach.

Golden Tate traded to Philly for a third-rounder. Good deal for Philadelphia, but a third-rounder given his expiring contract is about fair value. I had hoped the Lions would get a second but Saul Goodman.

How long does it take a WR to learn a new system, gel with a QB and become productive? All the WR deals going down make sense at the beginning of a season, but it seems strange how many trades are going down mid season this year.

I don't think that's as much of a concern with veteran WRs. The terminology might be different, but the route trees are usually the same.

Yeah, wr is the easiest position to pick up on the offense, by a long stretch.

I get that, but doesn't it take awhile to get the timing down with the QB? And don't WRs go to different spots depending on the coverage, or when a QB scrambles? I never played organized football, so I'm not challenges you, just coming from a place of ignorance and listening to announcers jabber about a QB and WR not being on the same page. I would guess that only happens a few plays a game where they read the play differently, or make a play because they both knew what the other was going to do.

Not gonna speak for Pentagonz, but that's not inaccurate, but those kind of plays are relatively rare like you said. (And usually a situation where the actual play has broken down and it turns into a "sandlot" play.

It's definitely advantageous to have a relationship between a guy like Brady and Julian Edelman or whatever, but most of the WR route trees where they're not running a set route are based on the coverage and dependent on the QB and WR making the same reads. And that doesn't really change from team to team.
