Sterling can see through binoculars when the guys in the booth are bird-dogging attractive women in the seats.

Not sure I really understand this trade for the Tribe.

Indians get Carlos Santana, trade Encarnacion and Yandy Diaz in three-team deal.

On the surface, it looks like the Indians are saving $1.5 million this season and creating another hole to fill in the offseason. I wonder if this increases the chance of the Indians and Reds making a deal involving Kluber for Senzel and other prospects.

Senzel might be at the level where if they trade him to you, you worry about why they traded him to you.

There’s some math behind it; I’ve been back in the area almost 6 years now and I definitely hate them less with greater exposure.

My experience of being in the Yankees' booth pre-dates Waldman's presence. Sterling and Kay, yes, Suzyn, no.

This RInger article pushed me to the NFL side for Murray. Sure, there's a shot he could get that big old honking contract in MLB, but he's goign to wait longer for it than if he is a first round NFL pick.

The whole debate is weird. The NFL is obviously the best way to guarantee himself, say, $10MM. Feels like a lot of people on the MLB side don’t really consider the odds of a #9 overall pick making it.

(I’d still pick baseball because it has drastically lower death/debilitation odds.)

The NFL has never done more to protect QBs though, so I don’t know how bad Murray’s realistic injury fears should be. I’ve been convinced he’s going to the NFL ever since I heard him answer questions about the two sports a few weeks ago during an interview with Tebow. If the money is even remotely close (i.e., if he’s picked by the end of the first round), I really don’t think he’ll want to go from winning the Heisman and playing Alabama in front on 80,000 fans to riding buses in A-ball.

You can win the Heisman Trophy, make football money for a few years, and still have time to let your natural talent take you up the minor league ranks pretty quickly. It can be done.

This makes it about 95 percent likely Harper is a Dodger. I'll try to make a call and say it's gonna be 9 years, $340M. Harper will likely get another FA contract at age 35 if he stays even relatively healthy. LA overpays a little to get the term down under 10 years.

I think it'll be closer to $300MM even with a lower AAV but with the opt-out structure guaranteeing he never gets more than half that on the deal.

I sure don’t see any reason why a power hitter would go to Chavez ravine willingly.

Yeah, I suspect there will be extensive opt-out language. Will be interesting to see what and when (what season) though.

Fair. It's gonna be really fascinating to hear about the details of this FA process for Harper. I hope someone gets the behind the scenes story and he and/or his agent participate.

Harper's pretty inscrutable so this is pure conjecture on my part based on reading the tea leaves with what little him and his family has said over the years, but I think this is the order of options he would prefer:

1) Cubs to play with Bryant
2) Dodgers to play 45 minutes from his family.
3) Return to Washington.
4) Philly
5) Completely rando option like LAA or whomever

But I don't think the Cubs are at all interested in him and I don't think the Dodgers are offering him enough to give up the kind of money he could get from Philly or maybe some random team that put in a crazy AAV. So I think it's a matter of working on stuff like opt-out language so he can get out in 4 years if LAD becomes a clusterfuck or salaries skyrocket again, etc.

I just assumed the Yankees were not even in the bidding, but I'm sure if they are that would be 2a or 2b with the Dodgers.

I really like Puig because baseball could really use more displays of spontaneous emotion. The play in WS Game 4 where he did the huge bat flip and Rodriguez spiked his glove was hands-down my favorite moment of this year’s postseason.

Seriously, Puig in Cincinnati is gonna be car wreck awful but crane your head to see it in terms of hot takes from the team’s broadcasters and a chunk of its right wing fan base. I can’t wait. Then again, Puig has been a favorite of mine for years so, it’s a double win for me.
