When I saw it live, the shooter had a hitch when he caught the ball instead of going straight up with it, almost like he was simulating a rhythm dribble before going up.

That's what you do when youre completely wide open to get in rhythm off a marginal pass before the laws of the universe pause to allow a defensive end to swat your shit. First, unbelievable that Zion even runs to challenge that. Tons of guys quit on that rotation. Second the pass is the killer. If the guy can catch and shoot without catching the pass off his shoes he gets it off despite a great defensive effort. Zion has no clue it's a bad pass when he starts chasing. Love it.

They've been doing that a lot longer than 5 years. Only recently that they haven't had those post killers. And Nike needs to go back to the r&d budget and find some different materials for that beast. The man is too strong for existing shoes. Crazy. I think he'll come back for tourney. Seems like a guy that would go but so many (perfectly reasonable) whispers in his ear so he will be hesitant and certainly won't sprint across court to challenge jumpers. I'm gonna lay a conspiracy theory on you (I TOLD YOU THERE WOULD BE TAKES): Duke doesn't bring him back, but will say he's good to go for tourney to maximize seeding - the game last night shows who they are with/without Zion. But he doesn't play again for the Blue Devils.

I wouldnt say thats who Duke is without Zion. Carolina-Duke isnt a fair barometer and thats the first game without him with no practice time or adjustments. Theyve got just enough time to get better and certainly theres a lot of incentive outside of Zion to show well.

On some reasonable planets, this would help legitimize women's sports.
