Guys, I’m starting to think there might be the smallest inkling of the start of the seed of a tiny problem.

Probably better to hit 95th percentile one year and 5th the next versus 50th and 50th.

Aaron Judge's injury looks like it might be of the 3-4 month variety.

Glad I didn't splurge on MLB.TV yet. It's unreal.

I refuse to confirm, but they have to be right about at 1/2 the preferred 25 man. And far greater if you weight it by value.

The one positive here is the injury to Hicks, maybe combined with Stanton's, may have saved Frazier's Yankee career. Instead of being tradeable now or at the deadline, he's necessity in the OF and middle of the lineup.

Its weird that the only Phillie who wants to win is Jake Arrieta. Its also weird how different the narrative on those quotes would be had they come from Jakeson Arrietez.

Random alert, but through every team's first 20 games, the starting pitcher went 7+ innings 80 times this year. That's less than half the amount from just 5 years ago. The modern high was 282 in 1973, and that's with 6 fewer teams.

It took Miguel Andujar 6 innings today to match Gio Urshela's 2 errors for the season. Except Urshela has played 158.1 innings at third this season.

After he stopped running, I don’t think there was anything above average except batting average. Granted, that was elite and rightfully carried him to the HoF, I’d just say it leaves him below the more complete stars.

21 strikeouts tonight by Red Sox pitching. 17 by Sale by the 7th inning.

My friends from here are at the game because they are visiting Boston

And tonight I learned that the Rockies are the "local" team to ABQ and this game is blacked out on MLB TV, so I had to use my VPN to watch the feed despite the fact the Rockies are on the road. So dumb.

Edit.

Up to 24 at the end of 10. Wow.

For what it's worth, I don't think home or road is what matters for mlb.tv blackouts. It's whether the game is available on the local cable system.

It's still really dumb, though. Despite the fact that I live farther from MLB than 99% of the people in the country, I'm blacked out from two teams. Luckily it's only a minor inconvenience for me, since the Cubs only play the Rockies and Diamondbacks 6 or 7 times per year.

SIX teams are blacked out in Las Vegas. So it could be worse for some of y'all.

there is a CONTROVERSY in my longstanding AL only league in a dump trade that two guys made. this is the deal:

Team X acquired Shane Greene, Lourdes Gurriel, Alex Gordon, Albert Pujols and Joey Gallo
Team Y acquired Miguel Andujar, Chad Pinder, Dallas Keuchel, Ryan O'Hearn and Lou Trivino

none of the players at the top are expensive (Gallo and Greene are in the final year of their keeper eligibility) and ... well, you can see how bad the take is for team Y. Pinder is at $1 through 2020 but he's Chad Pinder and Andujar ($5) can only be kept through 2020

this is made worse by the fact that these guys have only traded with each other since the second guy joined the league and they did two trades last year where the dump/go for the money roles were reversed

anyway, outside of the possible COLLUSION ... this deal is bad enough to be vetoed independent of other factors, right?

I mean, the one guy on the ass-reamed side of the trade worth keeping is about to have season-ending, probably never realize his potential surgery on his shoulder to repair a torn labrum.

That's a terrible trade. Even the pitcher worth getting is still unemployed (and there's a reason HOU no longer has interest in his services).

we reversed the trade last night and now the guy who was doing the dump trade is quitting the league and the other owner is ... sending lots of emails. As is the guy that first called them out on the "collusion."

After several innings worth of watching, I'm pretty convinced Dwight Smith Jr. isn't a major league baseball player. He's definitely not a major league outfielder.

They have a lot of young players who have a lot of potential. Whether they fully realize it, this season or ever, is open to speculation.
