I’ve watched the whole game tonight because my Boston daughter wanted to. I still have trouble keeping up with puck when it’s around goal, but the action is pretty good.

One of the things that amazes me is the way they use the boards to pass. The defenders are always on the corner of the blue line and it’s crazy how the others can get it to them at will.

There have only been two in history. 1950 and 1954, both by the Red Wings.

One other consequence of my trip to Saint Louis is I would be fine if it is a long time before I ever hear the song "Gloria" again (though it is a banger).

But every bar playing it every 20 minutes is just too fucking much. Have some restraint.

Just heard this guy on Cousin Sal's podcast.

'I've already won': Why Blues bettor won't hedge his $100,000 ticket

In January when visiting Vegas, he put $400 on the Blues at 250/1 to win the cup.

Personally, I think he is a complete idiot. (maybe a nice guy, but an idiot)

Crazy stat. In 13 of the 16 previous final Game 7s, the losing team scored less than 2 goals.

It has been 25 years since the losing team in a Game 7 of the Final has scored more than 1 goal (Rangers beat the Canucks 3-2 in 1994). This is the 7th Game 7 since then.

In the other two games (other than 1994) the losing team led 2-0 after one period.

Referees forgot to invent a five-minute penalty to let Boston back into the game after that third goal. That was the difference.

It’s a spectacular trophy. I lived in the same neighborhood as a few Bruins players back in 2011 and Andrew Ference used his day with the Cup to organize a neighborhood parade that started right outside my apartment building. I got to walk right by the Cup and it was awesome.

Also, Ference is my all-time favorite athlete for this reason.

I am an extremely casual hockey fan but it’s great for the city and the region. St. Louis gets a lot of shit, much of it deserved, but this city also has a lot to love* and was STARVING for a triumph.

* I moved here in 2014 because my then-GF, and soon to be wife, came here for med school. We’re both prototypical coastal elites but have loved settling down here for many reasons.

Phish is playing St. Louis tonight. The cup was won during set break. They opened the 2nd set with Gloria (1st time played) > Loving Cup.
