I have a weird feeling that Columbus is gonna upset Tampa. For starters, Columbus might be the most talented #8 seed in the league's history and it's not like a 62-win team getting upset in the first round is unprecedented.

I think that the last time LA won the Cup, they were a #8 seed, and that year in the West, the 5,6,7 and 8 all won their first round series'.

My issue with Columbus is that I think there's too much weird bullshit going on in the locker room. I know Torts won it with Tampa back in the day, but his style seems to really piss his players off.

I dunno. On paper, I'd much rather avoid Columbus due to the talent up and down the roster. But they're going to have to put a lot of ill-will aside from some of their top players to get anything going.

And Tampa is fucking sick this year. I said it a couple of months ago... Caps fans are all too familiar with running away with the President's and then shitting the bed. It can happen. Just don't see it with this squad.

Maybe, but I think too much gets made of that stuff. The regular season is one thing, but the playoffs are another and these guys at this level are all competitive as fuck and typically aren't gonna half-ass anything in the playoffs. Tampa is rightly a 4-to-1 favorite to win the series, but can't be excited that their reward for a 62-win season and the President's Trophy is playing a team that based on talent up and down the lineup alone should be a division winner probably.

Yeah, Tampa is easily the favorite to win the Cup, but as I and others have said before, I'd bet on the field over them, because of the frequency of upsets in hockey.

Yeah, his shit works until it doesn't and then it really doesn't. I have to imagine he's stale there, especially with a lame duck star and goalie.

Tampa is 9/5 to win the cup so the field is favored.

We're the favorite, but the field is like 75%

I'd put a side bet on Marchand or someone like him running Vasilevsky in these playoffs.

Maybe it's me but this looks like a total cakewalk for the Hurricanes. Why even play the games?

Yeah, I guess I've seen it happen the last couple of stints and it's one thing when the issues are behind closed doors and/or Torts is taking it out on the press like he did at the end with Rangers.

But he's been into it with the guys you mentioned, plus a couple of other guys being called out publicly in the press the last 2 years.

Shit gets old.

Marchand doing something stupid and uncalled for in the playoffs is always a good bet. I think he's quit licking faces though.

The fans I follow on Sharks twitter are all pissed off that Pete DeBoer has decided to dress Micheal Haley tonight, because he thinks a tough guy is more valuable on the bench than the much more talented Joonas Donskoi or Lukas Radil. Chances are Haley will make a bonehead play, take a bad penalty, and get 6-7 minutes of ice time.

If the decision is Haley over Donskoi I definitely don't understand that. Seems like Donskoi always plays well against Vegas. I don't like Ryan Reaves but for some reason he seems to get into opposing coaches heads. I don't know if it's because most of them still have that meathead idea of "old time hockey!" or what.

Kessel and Malkin both have goals, and both also missed gapingly wide-open nets in the second.

Marchessault just drew a penalty for getting punched in the face. Then the refs even it up by calling Pavelski for getting tripped.

NHL officiating is the worst in the playoffs.

Oh man...so many seemingly easy missed opportunities. After they came up short in that initial onslaught at the start of OT, you knew they were losing, right?

Situational reffing is the worse in the NHL. Can't give a team too many opportunities.

I see it all the time when a team is on the PP and it ends with the player coming out of the box and joining the play. The team that was on the PP still has the other team hemmed in their own zone and the defending team commits a foul due to tiredness, sloppiness, disorganization, 3 defensemen in the ice etc... and the ref will not call a penalty because he just called one.

Nikita Gusev's agents working to release him from KHL contract (since SKA was eliminated) so he can join VGK for the playoffs. I guess the good news is he should definitely be joining VGK for next season at the least.

I watched the end of the second and most of the third. I'd be hella pissed about Tampa's "ole" defending on 3 of those 4 goals. The Savard goal, in particular.. WTF was Hedman doing on that play.

I still think Tampa takes the series, because if that shit didn't wake them the fuck up... Geez Louise.

(Also, FULL fucking credit to Bobrovsky... He made 4 amazing saves in the 2nd that would've seen Tampa go up 4-0. The best one (probably) right at the horn to end the period.)

Put my 5 year old to bed at the end of the first, happy as a clam. Shit went south after that.

For the storied franchise that is the Leafs, that is their first Game one win since 2003.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's guys parading up and down Yonge Street tonight!

Yeah, like, I'm happy to be proven wrong at this point... But wow.

Maybe they are following the Caps playbook from last year, where they lost to the BJs in the first two games and then won 4 straight??

Well.

3-0 is the worst lead in hockey right? If you bet $25 on Tampa right now you would win $100! and to win in regulation time a whopping $217!!

More like Swiss

(Pens should probably be down a goal after one, defense is still too sloppy)

Looks like either 62-win teams will be 0-for-2 in playoff series or Columbus will lose after winning first two on the road again. I’m probably gonna hammer Tampa ML for series.

Had to switch to the Roku because rain is knocking out directv and the feed looks slow because the frame rate is lower or something.
