Is it always fairly attractive women, or does the media just not publish the story when the teacher is ugly? Much like missing girls, they are almost always blond. I love that she thought going with the sexy librarian look in court was a good idea. Better yet, she claimed the 16 yo is to blame, as he worked so hard to weaken her defenses she caved in.

Yup. Though I think there's a difference (not that I'm condoning it by any stretch of the imagination) from going for a 16-year-old and an 11-year-old, it's still an issue.

I'm still not convinced that any of these are harmful to these boys, at least not the sex. If the older woman gets clingy and manipulative, that could be a problem. But fucking your buddy's hot mom? One of my friends is an administrator and coach at the school her kids go to. He is too upstanding a person to push the rumor mill or leak anything that the school is aware of and not sharing during a conversation, but I am curious on his take.

I hadn't heard those details, but while it makes her sound a bit worse, it still doesn't add up to something terrible for the boy.

I see these situations as VERY different from a 40-something dude seducing a 15-year-old girl. I'm not sure why it's so different, but it is.

You hear countless stories from adult girls about how traumatizing some adolescent sexual experience with an adult was and how it still haunts them. Somehow, unless it's male-on-male rape, you really never hear adult men complain about how banging their teacher/friend's mom/lonely neighbor/etc ruined their life.

I think it is completely different than awkwardly fumbling around with a girl your own age. I think there is a greater sense of violation for girls, physical and emotional. There are genuine differences, and I don't think it is sexist to acknowledge that.

I had a friend's girlfriend's mom kinda make moves on me when I was 17 and I didn't even realize it. She took me to the movies and out to eat, but nothing happened and nothing ever crossed my mind. I was house-sitting for my girlfriend's family and I told them when they got back. Their reaction made me realize how creepy it probably was. I wouldn't have done anything then, but looking back, I wish I would have. My tastes have changed.

Big timely article in the paper here this past weekend.

I have a friend who knows this guy (or knew of him in HS, well enough that in another timely happenstance this past weekend a friend of a friend asked if the teacher from the article above could tag along to party at my friend's house (the answer was no)) and he has absolutely no sympathy for the guy.

The grossest part of that whole gross story was the girl's mom.
