ETA: for g-d's sake it won't be a puppy. Current jerk is about 1.5, so we'd be looking for a pup at least that old if not older. Fully house trained will be a must, not going through that again.
Meet Stevie. She’s younger than him, and going to be a bit of a project (very shy, adopted out and returned twice previously) but the rescue said she’s sweet (she is) and needs a house with a friendly dog (check). She’s getting a little more comfortable every day, and other than a habit of waking up in the middle of the night and wanting to play it’s going well.

Thanks to Syb and cerrano who I used as references.

I dunno man. I think Danny R is playing at the bar on Friday so depending on how the week goes we might try to talk the youngest into skipping dinner Wed so we can go then instead.

Young female put into a situation where the male won't even bother listening to her. Sad.

Sitting here in Muncy IN, headed tomorrow morning to pick up a Golden Retriever.

Debating with kids on text about a name.

Over the moon.

(9.5 drive home is worth it.)

She's a she. :-)

We're home. She's incredible. Her name is Mickey, from Mitch and Mickey which has large familial history. (I used to put my daughter to sleep to that movie and my son, who is older, got to hear that just almost out of osmosis.)

She was an absolute angel on the 9 hour drive home. My daughter is over the moon, which... She kind of needed a little boost. She really missed our previous pooch.

Her parents are 96 and 85 pounds. We are going to have a nice big dog. I don't "put my foot down" very much in this family, so no one (specifically my wife) was all about finding the right dog.

We tried doing the adoption thing, but those folks couldn't give us any kind of real timeline and my wife has insomnia and was living on message boards. Found this litter in Flora/and hopped in the damn car.

And, duff, my bad, seriously.. I was a gummy and a bottle of wine in when I posted that. Pho-NET-ics. (On the way into town, on a 4 lane highway, someone came riding right at us in the left lane of our side of the two lanes. One of the scariest moments of my life.)

Rubbing a female dog's belly is an altogether more enjoyable and less stressful experience than rubbing a male dog's belly.

More that she's just recently gotten comfortable to allow me to do it and yeah that (woody or not) is something you don't have to worry about navigating with her.

I still have a picture of him on my work desktop. Late in his life, one of the last times we took him to the shore, dick and ears caught in the late summer ocean breeze...

My Golden (not really a) puppy (anymore) rolls over and shows her belly to everyone. It's adorable but I wish she was a little more discerning.

Fostering a cat my youngest found at his new apartment. We have a home for her but It may be another week. Tortoiseshell female with no tail but we don’t know if that’s on purpose or not because apparently torties sometimes are born without tails? I dunno. Anyway. This cat has the nastiest farts ever. Like never had a pet that did this shit.

My younger cat may have just broken my toe just now.

I was walking to the kitchen and he was under my feet. I tried to step around him, and I slammed my left middle and ring toes into the jutting corner of two walls. I was wearing flip flops, so it took the whole brunt of it. My middle toe is turning purple. I have it elevated and had a cold pack around it. I was probably going to take off running today due to the snow, now that this happened I think it’ll be some time.

Of course my little guy is still the best little kitty. I can’t stay mad at him.
