Awww, look how far they've come in that misogynistic and antiquated competition.
They have come a long way. You'll be surprised to know that nearly all pageants are now run by women. Women organizers, women sponsors and women judges. Men no longer are involved. It's totally now a women's empowerment platform. Swimsuit is now like 10% if not already gone. My wife is a pagaent junkie.

So, Degen, if swimsuit is 10%, roughly how does the other 90% break down?

I just asked my wife. In Miss Universe the prelims are 60% interview, 20% Evening Gown and 20% Swimsuit. This determines the top 20.
In the Final 20, there are two interviews, one swimsuit, and one evening gown, then the cut to the top 5 where they have to answer two additional questions. She says, yes you have to be beautiful but it's basically a job interview to represent the Miss Universe Organization for a year.

Then she says in other pageants, like Miss World, there are talent and sports contests which lessens the bikini even more.

I was wondering if this was still the case. Watched most Olympics on CBC 6 from Montreal. Even better than NBC back in the day when they had 95% less backstory on how the fencer's dog was an influence....and they show others besides just Canadians.
Watching the London games in Australia was an eye-opener. Much more of a 'global' approach, and instead of just focusing on atheletes that medaled, they would show the 'local kid of Wollongong who finished 6th in the hurdles! Awesome!' kind of thing.

And a lot of coverage of different sports....so much field hockey!

For what it’s worth, NBC’s live streaming coverage uses the world feed (with Aussie announcers and no bells or whistles). It’s been that way for the last few Olympics. Anybody who just wants to see the events can just go there.

DeChambeau tests positive for Covid-19, out of the Olympics.

His replacement: Patrick Reed.

I can't believe what Jrue Holiday did in that game. Led the team in minutes, was 18/7/4 and basically indispensable for his defense. All that after what had to be a wild 48 hours of partying and a plane trip across the world. For comparison, Middleton barely played and Booker was a zombie out there.

Also, does Pops still basketball? That game turned when USA got burned on the exact same BLOB play twice in a row for 6 points. They were looking pretty good for the win until then.

I think I saw this happen live last night. Had to rewind to make sure what we thought happened because dumb NBC didn’t note it beyond an in the moment “ooooh” and didn’t show a replay (I’m sure the Canadian broadcast did).

From Joe Vardon's recap of the US-France game at the Athletic:
The players are frustrated, too, grumbling on their way back to the locker room about “running the San Antonio offense” when apparently they feel like there are better ideas. Pop has said, because of the truncated nature of Team USA’s training camp, the offense would be based on “concepts” instead of set plays.
It seems like trying to teach "an offense" is a fool's errand in the limited amount of prep time, especially when Holiday just showed up and was the leading scorer.

Bomani Jones has mentioned on a few occasions that Pop is a Larry Brown guy, which could be some sort of explanation for the recent shortcomings of the 2004 Olympics (Brown) and 2019 FIBA World Cup (Pop).
