MOST POINTS IN THEIR FIRST GAME AS A LAKER

4. Anthony Davis - 25
3. LeBron James - 26
2. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 27
1. Danny Green - 28

So Lebron was...pretty bad last night. He and AD combined for 11 points in the second half? Yowza.

Part of why I’m bearish on the Lakers is that regular season LeBron just hasn’t been the same player the last few years, even if his stats still look really good. He hasn’t played a shred of defense since 2016 and doesn’t really move without the ball anymore. He was really awesome in the 2017 and 2018 playoffs so he’s probably still capable of his peak level. I’m just not sure he’s willing or able to do that over an 82 game regular season.

Last night was not exactly what Joe Lacob had in mind when he had Durant put a hardhat on for the Chase Center groundbreaking ceremony. Warriors are basically a G-League team other than Curry, Green and Russell. By nature of the shots he takes, there’s always going to be a lot of game-to-game variance with Curry. And they’ll get their doors blown off a lot this season in the games when his 3s aren’t falling.

Kinda sounds like the Rockets in a way. I mean, they win that game fairly easily last night if Harden and/or Gordon hit the 3s they usually do.

My reaction was more a combo of their first two games, they go a legit 11 deep and that Paul George will join them at some point. I underestimated how damn good they are.

Nice of Kemba to honor Antoine.

Good thing the Sixers have two different centers who are better than Drummond!

A nice thing about the Horford acquisition is that there’s really no downside to giving Embiid plenty of games off in the regular season. A Simmons-Harris-Horford core can more than hold its own against most of the league.

I like the sixers from a talent perspective but horford is going to need to sit lots and lots of games too not to mention minutes load. It's game 2.

You’re right that they shouldn’t push Big Al too much either. But having two good centers is huge for the Sixers. One of the biggest reasons why they lost to the Raptors last year was because their defense cratered whenever Embiid rested. Horford is such a smart player and savvy defender, so that shouldn’t be much of a problem anymore.

Ja Morant, for real and what not.

30 with 9 assists in the OT win. The game-tying bucket in regulation. And this execution with Crowder on the game winner in OT:

Mmmmmm.

I caught the score of that game early in the 4th and thought there was some kind of glitch with the ESPN app. I know it’s only 4 games in but it’s gotta be somewhat encouraging for the Rockets that neither Westbrook or Harden has seen a drop off in their assist levels after teaming up.

Same on thinking my cbs app was broken. Bonkers - I should have turned over to it but was drawn to the Sixers/Wolves game and then the fight and I lost track of getting back to it.

Was that the highest scoring game in regulation in NBA history? (Pistons/Nuggets in 1983 was 145-145 at the end of regulation).

I remember a last game of the season in the 70's when the David Thompson-Nuggets were trying to get him the scoring title by letting the other team score every time so he could get the ball again. Probably had a really high final score.

I thought that Pistons/Nuggets record of 370 points combined in a game might last forever and now it seems like it's entirely possible for it to get surpassed in the next few years. Would almost certainly take a game going to three or four OTs, but it could happen.

Fat lever averaged 20 points, 9 boards, 8 assists and 3 steals for nuggets in 1988. Stat sheet filled. That's LeBron type stuff.

See they called him Fat because he used to practice his ballhandling by loading the ball up with crisco before games.

That’ll be at least 40 games missed for Curry. Warriors are well on their way to a top-5 draft pick.

Is anyone watching the Lakers-Mav game?

Luka Doncic is clearly concussed, and he's just sitting on the bench, and no one on the Mavs staff seems at all concerned about it.

Fell asleep and missed second half/OT unfortunately - looked like one hell of a game.
