October baseball is here and I’ll ask the only question worth asking: can anyone possibly be expected to topple that Colossus of Texas, that Indestructible Thing, that perpetual run scoring and run prevention machine? Where would it rank among the great failures if they were to lose so much as one game? Why do the rest of us carry on when the task ahead of us is so futile?
