Jay Bouwmeester just collapsed on the Blues bench in an eerily similar inicident to Rich Peverly a few years back. Game postponed.

Statement from the Blues GM:
With 7:50 remaining in the first period of our game tonight, Jay Bouwmeester suffered a cardiac episode and collapsed on our bench after completing his shift. Thankfully, with the quick response of our medical trainers, Anaheim medical trainers and their team physicians, they were able to stabilize Jay. He was alert and moving all of his extremities as he was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center. Currently, Jay is conscious and alert as he undergoes further testing by Anaheim's physicians. We will update Jay's condition on Wednesday morning.
Scary stuff.

Cernak is lucky he's not seriously injured. Kassian kicked him in the chest.

I can't see who it is less than a 10+ game suspension. Repeat offender from just last month.

Oh the comments are gold though.

"What is he supposed to do?? He's pinning them on the ice!" -- IDK genius, maybe not kick him with a knife?

Obviously that was a great deal for Vegas. At the time Stephenson was kind of a luxury, but thanks to injuries he's been pretty essential. They mentioned it in passing, but he hasn't only been playing with Stone and Pacioretty either, they've been able to move him up and down the lineup and he's produced no matter who he's been paired with.

LA apparently trading Alec Martinez to VGK for two second-round picks

I so so so badly want the Rangers to take advantage of this market and trade DeAngelo.

Sellers are making out so far, that haul Vancouver gave up in the Toffoli trade was nuts. SJS did OK trading Dillon too.

I think that matters a little less with the Rangers, given Gorton's history. He can fall in love with other teams' prospects and lose sight of maxing out value.

Deal is done. Think the correct value was probably one second not two (or a 2nd and a 4th or something like that at least, but whatevs. At least Vegas doesn't seem like it's going to move any more prospects.

Stat twitter doesn't like him but I'm guessing the logic, if you do like him, is that him not being a pending UFA has excess value versus everyone traded yesterday.

And that LA's defense might be so bad it's dragging down Martinez relative to how he would perform with a more competent team around him, yes.

But I agree it's an underwhelming move all things considered. Now the big question is usage. Martinez SHOULD be replacing Engelland who looks like his career should be done at this point, but if they start scratching Whitecloud or send him back down to Chicago I'm really going to be scratching my head because Whitecloud has been really, really good for a rookie playing in his first 10 games or so.

ETA: Not sure why my brain was thinking "Whitehorse"

RMNB has some trade rumors

Jensen on the block by the Caps (4 years 2.5M per left)
Have expressed interest in bringing Green back from Detroit (Green has a house in the DC area). He is an expiring $5M contract. Feels a bit of a long shot as it does not make the Caps better.
Caps could be in the Chris Kreider talks. Expiring $4.63M cap number.

Like the idea of picking up a vet and clearing some cap space for next year while making a run at the cup this year.

I can tell you the atmosphere in Vegas for this game against Tampa tonight is “wear your jersey even if you’re not going to the game” big which is impressive for regular season.

I took a pic with my dog and a Jai Alai IPA and in the moment it meant something. Just like last year Tampa is the team to beat in the NHL. Tampa-Vegas would be a bonkers final.

Not sure why Winnipeg gave VGK a 4th rounder (conditional 3rd if WPG makes playoffs or he re-signs) for taking Cody Eakin off their hands and freeing up cap space, but a gift is a gift.

Love the ebug. Love he gets $500 and to keep the jersey.

Now he is a practice goalie for Toronto. Has been an ebug for the marlies before. So he has some conflict of interest here. Bet Toronto guys are asking...hey maybe let a few slip in buddy.

Also the real question...How did the visiting Canes get a Jersey with his name stitched on in the correct color and font so quickly. I mean do they keep a copy of the ebug names for every team and then the visitors have a blank jersey at every game so they can stitch it as soon as they get him dressed?
