Humiliating experience when I ordered a “financier” with my coffee only to learn the “r” isn’t silent. I can never go to Millburn again.

They have 8-ounce bottles?
Yes. Every so often - glass in my local market.
Pro tip…look in the international aisle for the little glass bottles. Those were my moms favorite.

I’m just glad they’re open. Everything around there looked really decimated yesterday.

Rice Krispies with Vanilla Almondmilk is a new fave of mine, despite the obvious fact that almonds ain't got titties, as has been established here.

ETA: Did not make bagels this week, but planning on it this weekend.

I treated myself to a real home-cooked breakfast today. Fried up some high-quality sausage (almost no grease cooked off), paired with an omelette made with Better-Than-Eggs (you may recall I had a heart attack once), blue cheese, and leftover chard, seasoned with TJ's Imami powder, Penzey's Justice, and pepper. And, fresh hot coffee.

Idiot for getting breakfast at Toyota when a local repair shop would have had even cheaper breakfast.

(I'm still reeling from the phrase "Toyota Dealership Cafe".)

I used to be happy with a partially stale bagel at the Subaru dealership so that really sounds great.

The old Saturn dealership (connected to the Cadillac dealer) had that nasty paid machine coffee. But often they would share extra doughnuts that they bought for the mechanics.

important breakfast related news

(and to be fully thread compliant, I had a couple of cups of coffee and instead of my usual rxbar I had a banana plus a scoop of peanut butter since I bought a bunch of bananas earlier in the week for one of the kids who hasn't touched them and I couldn't let them all go to waste).

The breakfast bars I've been eating for years are stuck at $2 a bar (I used to get them for less than $17 per box of 12) so new year/old habit (probably pre-having a full-time job) let me try being a bowl of cereal guy again.

But that led to a slight change in routine. I used to brew my coffee and then take the first cup and my breakfast downstairs and consume both at the same (alternating, really) time. That just doesn't seem as appealing with cereal and didn't want to carry a bowl in one hand and a mug in the other. So I've been making the cereal and eating it while the coffee brewed. This morning I was doing a couple of other things around the house while the coffee brewed (fed the mutts, grabbed laundry out of one of the kids' rooms) and didn't get around to the cereal until after the coffee was done. I prepped it and carried it downstairs and read the Athletic Pulse newsletter in my email and kept thinking to myself "wow these honey nut cheerios* are really sweet" but finished it up and took the bowl upstairs and opened the fridge to grab the half and half for my coffee and realized that's what I poured on the cereal. Luckily not too much.

these have been my go-to breakfast bar, but they are also expensive and I've moved away from them. I stock up whenever they're at costco, but $20 for 12 is still pricey, especially when you're buying 5-6 boxes at a time because they're not always in stock (and I don't go to costco more than once a month or so)

the latest move with the cold weather has been the kodiak protein oatmeal. the chocolate chip and the maple brown sugar have both been a lot better than I was anticipating

Probably closer to $15 for this guy if he needs a 4-6 ounces of cream as a chaser.

I eat a bowl of a mix of Grape Nuts and Trader Joe’s’ version of Cheerios ($2.99 for a big box!). Cheap and good!
