Browns want to interview Greg Roman (Balt OC) as well. The big question is which black coach they'll arrange a sham Rooney Rule interview for.

ETA: (To be fair, after hiring Hue I don't think there's any bias there in Cleveland, I guess I'm just a little salty that it often gets treated as a sham and not just by Cleveland. Anyway, between his work in San Francisco and Baltimore seems likely Roman is a head coach somewhere in the NFL next year.)

Also, this might be the year to strike while the iron is hot for McDaniels. I know Patriots slappies insist there's some quid pro quo for him to take over when Belichick retires, but not sure that's a situation he's going to want at this point, becoming a head coach in three years for a team with a 48-year-old QB and a noodle arm. Seems like a situation with a young QB like Cleveland might appeal to him more at this point. Also not sure why the hell anyone would actually want to try and follow Belichick. Pats fans are already irrational as it is, following their grumpy avatar doesn't seem like a recipe for long-term success.

I was making a joke! Apparently not a good one!

(That interviewing Hue in this circumstance would be a sham...)

Well, it was a fair point and I was gonna add to my post even before you said anything in case anyone thought I was trying to be unfair to the Browns.

I'd love for McDaniels to move on. His playcalling gets stuck in ruts.

As for following Bill, I agree with you. I wouldn't want to do it. Unless you're winning 2-3 SB in a row you're going to be seen as unsuccessful.

Though my fandom has gone from being a fan of arguably the worst team in the league to 6 SB wins I don't live and die like I used to. I like to see them win, but it's not the end of the world if they don't. Really after 2001, it's all been cherries on top.

Its far better to replace the guy who replaces THE GUY. Just ask David Moyes how following Sir Alex worked out for him.

John Dorsey Out As GM In Cleveland

Assembled an ill-disciplined team of low-character guys. Which might have worked if he had brought in good coaches.

That Jason Garrett still hasn’t been officially let go seems weird.

Browns have "strong interest" in Urban Meyer.

I hope this happens. It would be glorious watching him fail and fail spectacularly at the NFL.

Wouldn’t it have been nicer to say he was fired? Has he been banned from the stadium? Did they get a TRO?

His contract is over so he wasn't fired. I think the Cowboys are being classy. Garrett has been with organization 30 years.

His contract expires in a week or two. They may have already told him it's not being renewed without "firing" him.

Sure. Werder is probably plugged in enough with both sides that there's no doubt the report ends up being correct. It's just odd (classy?) that 12 hours later the official site put up a story just to remind everyone there hasn't been an official announcement.

Reports that the Panthers are hiring Matt Ruhle... and other reports saying Jason Garrett is a fallback option for the Giants if they don't get Ruhle.

So the Giants' policy is to hire coaches who have failed miserably elsewhere?

Crazy.

Anytime you can get the coach of the juggernaut Pats' WR corps, you gotta do it.

He's the ST coach and has been involved with ST for a few years. He's only been WR coach since last year when O'Shea went to Miami. And from reports, Troy Brown coached the WR this year while Judge was more with ST.

Seven years, $60 million!

I guess that means the Haslams will give Urban Meyer an 8-year, $80 million deal for "stability".

Does a guy with this CV get hired as a head coach in the NFL if he's not white?

>Grad assistant, Miss. St.
>LB coach, Birmingham-Southern
>ST assistant, Alabama
>ST/WR coach, Patriots
