I think we're all primed for a freak out.

Does the virus actually travel though? I thought it was person to person. And I don't actually get any packages from Amazon sent from Seattle. So I think I'm good.

Luckily you have the President of the United States making the welfare of the men and women in service his top priority.

I'm pretty sure the virus is a person-to-person thing. I'm just more freaked out because a) if its in Amazon, its way more wide spread then authorities are saying, b) rumors are that Amazon is going to start telling employees in South Lake Union to work remotely, and c) my office happens to be in South Lake Union as well.

Good thing I'm getting on a plane to California this morning! #sarcasm

No fans at any Serie A games until the first week of April.

I'd say it's probably even money right now that at least one NHL playoff game is played in an empty arena this year.

Have you guys seen, or read about if you're trying to stay sane(r), the commentary of the President of the United States on Hannity last night?

The only reasonable conclusion seems to be the administration wants this to be a pandemic and people to die.

We have a family group text going and I'd say between the 14 people on there, it's 50/50 trump/liberal. Last night we all texted with my pregnant niece who lives in Seattle who revealed she's having a boy. We don't talk politics on there, but I've gone back and forth about asking them whose advice they think she should take when it comes to interacting with other people in the area.

The state put out guidelines yesterday saying to avoid all gatherings of more then 10 people (not sure how they arrived at that number).

But Pence is visiting the state today, so I'm sure everything will be just fine!

So is the intent to mock the virus or to be taken seriously, which would stand in direct contradiction to his president?

First case reported in Nevada (at VA Medical Center). Patient had apparently traveled to Washington and likely contracted it there.

Forget the dipshit in the gas mask, who is the hot woman next to him?

But seriously, what is Gaetz' message with the mask? Is he mocking people for freaking out because he was voting not to fund efforts to minimize the spread of the virus? Was Gaetz in office during Ebola? Probably not, but if he was, he would have been front and center drumming up fears to politically attack Obama.

I never realized before this how often I touch my face. It's insane. Like probably 100 times an hour. Am I obsessed with my own face? This might be a good topic for therapy.

Yeah, me too. Luckily I live like a hermit, so I'm not particularly worried about either picking up the virus or transmitting it.

Well, except for that cross-country plane trip I have planned in two weeks. Maybe they'll just cancel the flights, and I'll have an excuse to drive it.

The surge in cases in Italy is somewhat alarming given how slow this country was to respond to this and make testing available. I am guessing more clusters like the one around Seattle are about to crop up.

Isn't there one in New York too? Or is that more spread out?

I know they have a patient zero and his family (an attorney) in NYC - but not sure about transmission to a possible cluster there like we have seen in Washington state - but I am thinking it is coming...

That is REALLY helpful, AB, thanks. We are still waiting on a decision from Quinn's school on the trip. I keep thinking they are going to pull the plug, but have not yet. They are supposed to be wheels up a week from Saturday for Paris.

Rumor has it I'll be at 3 degrees of separation by tomorrow so that's fun. I'm usually not much of a planner, but my wife is even less of a planner so I've taken on the potential quarantine stocking role. Its fun.

I have laid in extra dog food and about a week's worth of groceries (box pasta, canned goods, peanut butter). Need to get some more dog food and another week or two of food set aside. My bigger worry is not knowing where that stuff comes from and the apparent shortage of shipping containers in the supply chain that will bubble up at some point and going to the store and finding shelves bare at some point because products can't get from point A to points B - Z.

In theory a quarantine would be a great time to cook a lot but there's only so much you can cook if you can't get fresh ingredients. Real bummer.

(Bought a lot of flour so there will be a lot of baking if it happens.)

Our pantry is filled with canned stuff and boxed stuff we never actually eat. So maybe a quarantine would have a silver lining.

Doesn't a lot of pet food come from China? I figure that is something worth stocking up on.
